I purchased this to go on my 40x13.50 spare tire. I had high hopes of it being exactly what I needed as it was aluminum and light enough to raise up 6’+ onto the spare without issue. First with the good. It’s lightweight and the included hardware is stainless steel to keep the rust at bay. I did add thread locker to each fastener as I’ve had nylon lock nuts back off it the desert sun under vibration loads, but that’s just my preference. The unit is sturdy once assembled. I’ve been bouncing it around on trails rated from a 2 to and 8 since installed and nothing has loosened up.Now for the not so good. I cannot see this fitting correctly on any tire larger than a 37”. Maybe a 38” depending upon brand and actual size of the tire. My Maxxis tires run close to true size and I had a 1”+ gap on the top to contend with after all adjustments could be made. I corrected the gap with some hockey pucks fastened to the bottom of the rack. The hard rubber is enough to get a good grip on the tire and get a decent amount of surface area to contact the rack and tire. The width of the rack and its mounting hands would work on an 11.50” wide tire. I had to come up with a way to extend one side by 1” plus in order for it to get a grip. This was only accomplished with this spacer because the lugs on the tires are varying widths and the narrow lugs just happened to line up where I needed them to. I had to purchase longer bolts in order to through bolt them into the rack. With those adjustments complete I installed the rack. I’m happy with how it’s holding up, but I also purchased some heavier duty stainless steel straps as one other user mentioned for peace of mind. The last issue I had with the rack was when my Rotopax cans and mounts showed up. The pack mount bolt holes do not line up to the pre-drilled holes in the rack. I will have to drill out 3 out of the 4 holes in order to mount the holder. Or I will have to move it to a slightly different spot and drill 4 new holes that fit.If you are running larger tires and want to mount your fuel cans, then understand that some modifications may be required. At the end of the day, I don’t have any major regrets, but with the additional modifications required and time spent, the cost is really more than it’s really worth. Of course YMMV depending on what you are mounting this on and how you plan to use it.Cheers!!!

I had to replace all hardware with stainless and it is a brick-house once put together. Also consider some stainless ratchet straps. Other companies sell this same unit for 3 to 4 times as much.

Very light (yay aluminum), easy enough to assemble and easy to place and remove. It straps to the tire with a couple of cheap tie downs but that is easy enough to change. The brackets it comes with make it grip well to the tire and it doesn't move. Took it on a road trip, camping, and off roading for a few days. The aluminum is ver light and doesn't weigh down the tire or door like the steel ones.

I had a Overland trip that was going to a long haul in the backcountry. I needed something the was able to carry additional gas cans, Traction Boards and Jack. The Rack arrived on time, easy instruction to assembly. Took me a hour to assemble. Rack is well made and ties securely to my 35x12/17 rear tire. I had zero problems on my trip and glad I made the decision to purchase. Easy to remove and remount when needed.
