stuck it in the ground 3 times, by the 4th time it broke at one of the 3 places it screws together. this is not a good product

This comes in sections and they are hollow sections. It's actually more flexible than I expected it to be and works great for locating sewer mains and water mains. It does have nice thick rubber grips on it but I probably still wouldn't recommend using it for locating electric mains as it is metal and could lead to a shock hazard.

Made up of 3 sections that screw together for a total of 4'. The soil is very moist right now so I cannot comment on how it penetrates summer baked soil. On moist soil it goes right in with little effort.My soil contains a lot of glacial till so I keep bumping into rocks but with a little effort I was still able to get a good outline of my tank.I do wish that the probe was one solid piece instead of screwed on, though. Sometimes you need to twist it back and forth and when you extract it the sections are loose. I may epoxy the sections together and see how that works. I don't plan to disassemble it anytime and will just leave it assembled in the garage.
