This printer is terrible. It always has connectivity issues and it is constantly jamming. Worst mistake i made for my business. We have to keep it off until we get a customer otherwise it keeps printing no host receipts and it jams. Called star micronics they said it was probably an issue on my end. WRONG! MY other register, which is hooked up by same switch board, has an Epson printer and it gives no issues. Do not buy this printer for your business. Go with an Epson. Same amount of $, no problems.

Still going strong. I have juice store and I bought two of these to use with Square Stand. One for receipt and one for prep order ticket. It's thermal so no ink to replace. Setup was easy because as soon as I connect the Ethernet cable to the wireless router ipad picked it up quickly. Both of them. It's perfect for the receipt. Auto cut is great. Refilling is easier. Just drop the register roll and close. That's it.I'm using the one for prep area as well but Square recommends another heavy duty version for kitchen area. But it cost more money. After using it for a while I could see the reason for heavy duty one for kitchen area. This particular model has sizable gap where the paper comes out. And this gap exposes the bar where the thermal printing takes place. So if some gunk drips here printing gets blocked. There will be blank streak down the receipt or order ticket. When I clean with clean cloth, problem solved. I think heavy duty printer covers this area.Over all, I'm still using them and going strong.I definitely recommend.

Overall, the Star is a great printer--heavy as a rock, made to last, mechanically functions flawlessly, but I have always had a problm with the thermal print quality. Granted--it is just a receipt printer--but if finer resolution is what you're looking for, might not be a 100% perfect solution for you. We use a cloud based POS, and when it prints the end of day report, the pixelation of scaled down text (how their output functions) makes it nearly impossible to read. Standard print outs and direct connect receipts however--perfect.

I bought this to use with the Square setup. This printer is fast. Thermal printers print very fast, and the internals are actually much simpler than the ones at my work. You simply open it up, drop the paper inside (yes, it's a drop in, which makes it much easier to replace the roll once it has run out) and then feed the paper over the top.Cables are easy to manage thanks to the cut outs in the back, so I don't have to worry about cluttering up my space when I work my mobile photo booth.Overall, this is a great printer. I can't complain about the price because for similar thermal printers, this is relatively cheap. Any cheaper and there are issues with printing mechanics and whatnot.Another nice touch is that they include a CD which allows you to customize the printer (add logos, sync with POS systems, custom data to add once the receipt is printed, etc). Keep in mind though, this customization works with certain POS systems, not all. On Square, I can't tell the printer to print out all of the extra stuff since the POS for Square is very simplified.Overall, a nice receipt printer and it's no wonder why it's recommended by Square.

Amongst all options that sell this printer, I landed on this specific company because another user mentioned they purchased the product to use with Square and the iPad. The user also mentioned they were up and running in minutes and so was I! This was the easiest printer I have ever setup before...plug in the power cord and ethernet cable, access Square on the iPad, and you'll have a receipt printed in about five minutes or less! Also helpful, this package came with a small roll of paper for us to use while we waited for our bulk order to arrive. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone in need of a printer to use with the iPad and Square app.

The star micronics printer tsp143lan is a great printer!!!!I purchased to use with paypal here and with square card readers and this printer works with both perfectly!Printer was quick and easy to setup on my network, only problem I had was connecting the printer to my laptop, which after reading instructions online determined my laptop was not searching for printer. I fixed that with no problems per online instructions. This printer work flawlessly with both paypal here and square on my ipad.I would purchase this printer again if i had too and will recommend to friends using credit card readers.

I have this set up to use with Square and the APG Cash Drawer on the iPad 3. Setup was super simple and I was up and going in literally minutes. I've been using it for a little over a week now, and I've had about 3 instances where I can't get it to print a receipt. I check to make sure that all of the devices are on the same internet connection, and they were. Sometimes it just lags, because the cash drawer opens and I can click on the "Print Receipt" button, but nothing happens. Then when I print a test receipt from the iPad, the customer receipt that I was trying to print will print out ahead of the test receipt. So it was in there, but for some reason it didn't print out. Other times it just goes offline or something, because it won't open the cash drawer at all, and the option to print a receipt does not even show up on the iPad. I've had to turn it off and turn it back on when this happens, and that solves the problem. I have cable internet that has never given me any problems on any of my other office electronics, so I have to assume that the receipt printer is the problem. Setup was very easy, and it does work well most of the time, but it really irks me in those few instances when I cannot give my customers perfect customer service and have to resort to hand-writing a paper receipt.
