What a great invention. I have struggled with the device that is included with a trailer that is designed to lock the surge brake components in the open position. In other words, to keep the brakes from braking the trailer. Problem is, without the brakes being locked out, when you back up and particularly on an uphill backup, the brakes of the trailer will lock. You can't continue to back up. Maybe I was incorrectly using the lock supplied by the trailer company, but I have never been able to keep that lock in place while backing up. I ordered this unit, and it solves my problem. Place the lockout portion into the hole and let the magnet keep everything in place. It works perfectly. I have assigned only 3 stars as the second time I used it, the magnet separated from the body and fell off. It appears that the manufacturer glued the magnet in place on top of the orange paint. I removed the paint from the magnet and reglued it in place. Problem solved! If not for the glue problem this would absolutely have been a 5 star review.
