I bought it to replace a V-belt in Ridgid jointer. Compared to a regular V-belt, this one heats less and is less noisy.

I love these Gates AX cogged belts. They wear good, and eliminate most of the "set" you get with standard V-belts. I am using these on my cabinet table saw, jointer and drill press, and all run considerably better than the standard belts I was previously using.

I had a problem with my home-built compressor burning up belts. THIS GATES BELT SOLVED IT. The motor pulley and the compressor pulley are close together so there's not much belt-to-pulley contact on the smaller motor pulley. So the belt would slip when the motor kicked in. I tried a few normal quality V belts but they would slip and burn up. Then I tried this Gates AX belt with the wavy inner edge. This feature allows enough surface contact with the smaller pulley so that no slippage occurs. It has been on my compressor long enough now to give me confidence that it will last a long time.
