Bought this before heading on a long trip to Colorado. The old cat was a low cost replacement as the original cat was rehomed by an crackhead or person of low moral standing. This caused a CEL (check engine light). I tried an o2 spacer to no availWanted to make sure everything was functioning properly during the trip so replaced with this guy to get the light off. Did just the trick. Welded in place with my 99 dollar flux core harbor freight special.Beat the crap out of the car on this trip. Did 85+ the entire time except for doing the Ike gauntlet over I70 and then south on the million dollar highway. As you probably know, these 2nd gen Prius tend to drink oil. I’ve done engine flushes which helped consumption (busts the low friction oil rings loose) but it’s still an easy quart every 5k and more if you’re using it hard like I do.10k miles later and still no CEL! Now I don’t have emissions checking here so if you do, verify if this will cover it but I can at least attest to the mileage and CEL not happening which is fantastic. So yeah I’d buy it again at this stage and am happy

Autoshack supplied all the needed parts for a normal install. Two spare nuts fit the walker kit for the muffler. Replacing the Cat, resonator and muffler? Cat EM28339 and resonator 55431 pipes are the same diameter, surprise! You will need a 1-7/8" coupler and two heavy 1-7/8" clamps. You will have to assemble everything so you can mark the length to cut off the cat. Then remove the cat and make the cut, about 2.5". I used a heavy duty pipe cutter. (Another possibility is a pipe expander in the cat pipe before any assembly.) Get the cat near to its location. Then put the coupler on the cat and resonator and bolt in the cat. Confirm the spring bolts on the cat and the exhaust are in correctly, then clamp the coupler. Otherwise have a muffler shop weld them together, not very DIY. Walker says their converter #16337 is a slip fit for the walker resonator #54331. Would have been helpful knowing that upfront.

It really fit and really fixed the red light warning light. And yes, at a very low price compared to other original part sellers. AND YES I TOO WAS SURPRISED.

I was worried my original cat would get stolen, and I had an exhaust leak between my resonator and muffler, so I decided to sell my original cat on eBay and install an entirely new exhaust system. My original cat went for $1380, and my entire aftermarket system cost about $400... It took me about 2 hours to install whole system. No check engine light with new O2 sensor, and it sounds much better now.

I needed to replace my cat along with the resonator both had holes when I got the car so I can’t compare this part to stock sound. Anyway the quality of this resonator looks good it’s nice and sturdy fitment was perfect, no complaints about that. My only complaint is they didn’t include new bolts or the gasket that connects to the muffler section. In comparison I got my aftermarket cat assembly for $50ish and they included new bolts, the gasket, and an exhaust clamp.

This product does NOT work for my 2009 Prius. It is supposed to slide into my catalytic convertor and then use the included clamp to avoid having to weld. The pieces are the exact same inner and outer diameter so it does not work.....I do not know how/why others are saying it works for their Prius. The Amazon fit selector also said this would work

I wish it was stainless, I bought the compleat walker system using the advice of other reviewers.Just as a precaution I primed and painted the entire assembly with vht flame resistant paint to prevent rusting of the plain steal parts. For the extra $80 the primer and paint cost I’ll see if it extends the time it lasts.

This resonator pipe fits my Gen 2 Prius (2004-2009) perfectly! If you need the rest of the exhaust parts for this car, I recommend that you buy all the listed parts in the photo I included from Amazon (except Walker gasket Part # 31379 - see below), including the new resonator pipe and muffler if your catalytic converter is also bad. For reference, the factory exhaust is two pieces. The first is a long pipe that includes the catalytic converter and a resonator that attaches to the exhaust manifold in the front and the muffler in the back. Otherwise for the catalytic converter replacement, you'll be attempting to cut and clamp/weld onto this long pipe. You can probably reuse the existing rubber hangers, but new ones are cheap and easily replaceable while you have everything off. Here are some tips:* DON'T BUY the Walker Gasket (Part #31379) used to connect the exhaust manifold to the front of the catalytic converter. It WILL NOT work. I've spoken to Walker about it and others have commented similarly. It's more expensive (~$50), but YOU NEED THE TOYOTA OEM one (Part #17451-21060).*The Walker Bolt Kits (Part #36454) don't come with nuts you might need.*These parts are mainly aluminized carbon steel - not stainless like the factory system. This means that they were dipped in an aluminized coating for protection from rust. Don't scrape the stickers off with a sharp tool (leave them on) unless you want a spot that will rust through quickly.*This is an easy do-it-yourself job if you have access to a lift. If not, don't pay more than $150-$200 for professional installation of the full exhaust. It's a super-simple job and all the parts fit perfectly.
