I didn't have to research much to know that Welker is a quality and dependable brand of products. My only small comment on features i will make ( but won't ding it a star for) is that I wish it had an on/off 'switch'. BUT, you can spend more money to get this feature if you really use it so much that you need it. This Weller kit is a hot item (sorry couldn't resist). Have fun.

I got this for my son and he uses it to engrave his initials on wood. It does the job well.

I used this to learn how to burn wood. It worked well on some cedar fence pickets. Make sure your wood is sanded down. It was easy to use, got very hot quickly and did what it was supposed to. I accidentally burned myself on the side of my finger by very briefly brushing against the tip so I can attest that it does get very hot. No temperature control - what you get is what you get. After just a couple uses, I now what a more expensive one. That attest to how easy and quick it is to use.
