These bits leave a crisp, clean edge on both the top and bottom edge of the work piece. Having a top and bottom bearing gives you the opportunity of working with either a top or bottom template.

I've come to expect only the best from Whiteside and this thing does not disappoint. Very sharp and good quality.

Make no mistake, this router bit is expensive but you get what you pay for and I have no regrets for having made this purchase. It is great. I am not a professional. I bought this bit to use with a template kit because a friend recommended it. . Made the routing process so much easier because it gives you very smooth clean cuts with no tear out. I use it on a hand router with no trouble, but I can see where a router table would be an even easier to use experience.

Very clean cutting. Having a bearing top and bottom was useful. I cut downhill on the grain, adjusted to the other bearing and finished the cut again downhill. Just flip the piece and continue cutting against your template. This bit is so expensive but it does the work well. I trust Whiteside so decided to go with theirs instead of a cheaper version. Also happy to buy American.

My first use of the UDC9112 was to build a couple of Adirondack chairs. I'm using 1/4" templates on white oak, which is notorious for tear out when routing. I've never produced a cleaner edge on first pass with any previous flush trim bit, including straight flutes, spiral up and down cuts. Even clearing the end grain was a piece of cake, and just as clean as the edge cuts.I have it chucked into a Bosch 1617EVS on the table (2-1/4 hp). There was no discernable vibration, no wobble or deflection, and the cut on the 10th pattern was as clean as the 1st.I went through figured and some sketchy grain patterns with no problem. The router groaned a bit at hogging out more than ~1/8" in a single pass, but still did the job.Whiteside recommends a max rpm of 18,000. However, I ran it at the Bosch variable speed of 4 (which translates to 20,000, give or take). There was no undue heat-up, no burning of the material, and no change in efficiency. It handled that speed without breathing hard in the white oak.Excellent bit, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Absolutely THE King of All Trim Bits!!I gather anyone’dbe hard pressed to find anything wrong with THIS Mutha Of All Router Bits. It’sWhiteside :That means it’s probably the best Bit in the world.🍺❓🤦🏽♀️🤷🏻♀️😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣It’s Pretty Darn Big but still feels stable as hell when you are Trimming with it (‘specially when it’s fitted on my oh so lovely Rudy (a Festool OF2200 )🦖🐊🐉😍😎😜)...It’s aCombination Spiral so you can go both ways when routing those trickier curves and areas ( no need to worry about with/against the grain ...) although the Katana-Sharp edges make me confused sometimes.... because I feel like I’m in my kitchen whisking butter for cookies ‘stead of plowing through plywood!!!🤷🏻♀️🤦🏽♀️😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Soooo silky smoooth !!!!I swear you’ll be checking your workpiece after a run to see if anything’s actually been cut cause theres such minor resistance to this gargantuan slicer ...again ... it feels like Yer slicin through butter, not stock! In short... a super reliable bit from a super reliable company , that btw makes so many other useful things for woodworking other than extraordinary router bits!I didn’t even know about em till I downloaded Whiteside’s Amazing Catalogue...Which is not only mouth watering for anybit-thusiast , but also really informative, useful and efficient! The only very slight beef I had about the Ultimate Trim Combination Bit, is that I do wish it’s cut length was a bit larger ...at 1 -1/8 “ you’ll need two opposing passes ( and remove the top bearing) if you wanted to handle some thicker pieces with it... but I got the UDFT5152 (The Queen👸🏻 ☺️)for that , with its 1.5” Cutting Length, for those larger workpieces.I guess between the two of them you’d be hard pressed to find a trim job they can’t handle! Now I just need to get me that UDP9112( The Ninja-Prince! 🥷🏿🤴🏿) for any Plunge/Pattern tasks an I’m all set!🤔🤔🤔Well at least in that department....🙄🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤷🏻♀️😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤔Thank you WhiteSide for this spectacular baby! And for all the other outstanding things you make! And thank you Festool for giving us the finest Router available on the market today to enjoy with these Amazing Bits! ( I know I know ... this is a Whiteside Ultimate Combination Trim Bit review... but what good is a great router bit without a super duper awesome router to use it with eh?...🤔😎😁)

I paid more for this one router bit than I did for a set of forty plus bits. I'd lusted after it for a long time before deciding to heck with it and treating myself and it has turned out to be a treasure. I don't have to worry so much about grain direction and it is giving me the cleanest cuts with minimal tear out. I wish it was a full 1" diameter rather than 7/8" as that would work out better for those 1/2" radii internal flush trim jobs. If you became aware of this bit on Jonathan Katz Moses YouTube channel, then it is cheaper to buy the bit direct from Amazon rather than Bits & Bits with the Katz Moses discount.

If there were six stars, this item deserves it! Great router bit for pattern cutting. MAKE sure the bit is all the way into the collet and tighten it securely. The bit is top heavy and wants to work it's way upward after a cut or two. It will reach a certain point and then flop around in an oval pattern RUINING your router bearings. It did it to mine. Operator error. The bit is fantastic and will pay for itself - once I replace router bearings.UPDATE: Router bearings were replaced by DeWalt in no time and the router is working perfectly. I did decide to buy a 3.25 hp Triton router and it makes a huge difference in performance. Mounted in a "Norm Abrams" router table this bit is a beast. It cuts through 1" cedar stock like it's going through butter. I no longer band saw and sand!! This bit provides a satin smooth finish on the wood that requires minimal sanding. The folks giving this less than 5 stars for cost place no value on their time. It is worth every penny considering the hours of saved time in my shop!
