How to transplant rock wool block
Once the you see about 0.5-1" of root growth below the plug, it is time to transplant. They can go straight into the big rockwool hole, as they do not have any wrapping on them. Your best bet is to transplant the starter plug into a 3" or 4" .
WHY? It is much easier to control the moisture level in a 3"-4" than a larger block. Just wait until the block feels really light before you water. Smaller blocks like these will keep an even moisture level in the entire block. Rule of thumb: water 15 minutes before the block goes dry.
If you transplant into bigger blocks: It is essential to keep the upper part of the block moist by misting or watering sparingly.

For context, I use the Rockwool in my seed starting trays for my hydroponic towers. It's typically pretty simple, wet the rock wool let it soak, and place it in the individualized trays. Then from there place seeds etc. This Rockwool is very disappointing it disendergeated upon me applying water this has never happened I only purchased it because I thought I was getting a deal. I won't make that mistake again.

Got my rockwool in a paper envelope. Looks like they were smashed . Opened package and all off the cubes are falling apart. Very poor quality.

I grow freckles romaine all year long hydroponically and this rock wool works for me. Just place your seeds into the little hole and add water keeping the cubes wet until you can transfer them to baskets. Good to grow!

Works well but some sections are not scored correctly and may breakup into pieces, still usable just a pain. Plants started to sprout as expected.

1 1/2 " rockwool cubes for my gardening needs are just the thing for starting seeds and/or cuttings! You work with them wet to keep the dust in check especially if you are cutting them apart. They are perfect for the tiny squares starter tray I'm using at this time. These come in a slab, you, depending on your needs may prefer to use as a slab, I'm separating mine for my project and am totally happy to have these on hand. They perform well as any rockwool should, holds and nurtures your seedlings/cuttings until they are ready for next level advancement, onto another slab if you wish or set atop other substrate to continue growth, whatever your method, just take the cube and your offspring and move them right along. Great to use, inhibits other soil related problems, so yes, love them! Happy Growing!

Arrived quickly. One cube was damaged, seller refunded 100%. Used remained cubes, 2 didn't even germinate the seeds. 100% satisfied with the remainder. Easy to use and fit snuggly in my 12 seedling nursery. VERY easily transplanted to soil. Will purchase again
