If your reference point is a plastic-geared Traxxas servo, these servos would feel like an upgrade, but otherwise, I would not race with these. The torque is okay, a little bit under the 20kg-cm rating, and you have to run them at 8.4v to get even close to that figure. Even at 8.4v, they’re still slow. Before buying, make sure your ESC can do 8.4v, because at anything less, the performance from these servos is kinda pitiful.I opened them up to confirm some things. There are gaskets that seal up the case against water intrusion, but they seem kinda flimsy. The gears are brass, which is perfectly adequate for the torque this servo can put out. They use an encoder for position feedback, which means there is no hard-stop limit on the rotation; it will just spin around and around. This is good for durability, but bad for precision. The PCB is also kinda haphazardly wedged into the case; it doesn’t look like it was designed to fit.Overall, considering the price and the accessories you get with this two-pack, it’s not a bad servo if you are looking for a replacement part. But if you’re looking to *upgrade* your steering servo, it would be worth spending a little more money on a better model.
