The blades are not sharpened, they are flat on the edges and only chop into large pieces. You can do a small amount of beans at a time and get a somewhat finer grind, but this is not quality. I took a small file and made it a little better; but if you want a fine grind you have to spend more money.

Very disappointed! After less than 2 months use, the plastic hub for the blades cracked and soon after shattered completely. Now, we have a perfectly good coffee grinder ... without blades ... and nowhere to find replacement parts, of course.
