I measured the length of my old gas struts on my mower hood and guestimated the lifting force on the one remaining good strut and ordered these 11in 45lb struts. Perfect size and lifting force for the hood on my Cub Cadet mower. The connecting hardware that came with them wasn't needed they just snapped in as direct replacements for the old ones. Nice to be able to work in the engine area without having to find a prop rod.
