Put one of these in a 1960 Ford Ranchero with a 66 Mustang 200 c.i. straight six in it. Fit right in, and after I sorted the basics of firing order and initial timing, it fired right up on the first crank. Was able to then sort out all the other problems that the truck was suffering from and now it purrs like a kitten even in gear. If you are sick of that points distributor, this is a great swap, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Recommended.Almost forgot to mention, the instructions are absolutely useless, and the blurb on the ad says "one wire installation" or something close to that. In fact there are two terminals, and after much confusion, I caught the light just right on the cap above the terminals and was able to make out, just barely, that the one on the left was "TACH " and on the right was "BAT",which is of course where you wire in 12 volts from the switch. Don't use the wire from the old coil, it has a resistor inline to cut the voltage to 6 volts to make the old points last longer. It might or might not run this new HEI distributor, but it's designed for 12 volts and 6 might possibly make it run hot or damage it. Just get a 12 volt source on the fuse box that goes on and off with the switch, or do like I did and wire a dedicated switch.

Worked as expected. The recommended plug wires are not long enough but that’s not a problem with the HEI. Car runs great now.

The first one was a disappointment. The instructions say to fully inspect. I did and found the vacuum advance was binding. Tech support was great. Had me return it.2nd unit was great. Once I had it installed correctly it fired right up. Engine runs better than ever.Originally I got the plug wires with the order but they were too short so I got the crimp pins and made my own.

Wires included in pack are not designed for170, ONLY will work on the 300 due to distributor location.

Novice grease-monkey here. Got this for my '66 Ranchero (200). The install was super easy... the only tricky part was mounting a relay to the firewall and making sure all the wires went where they were supposed to. But, there are a couple videos on YouTube, and I just copied what another guy did. Reading other reviews, I was worried that some of my spark plug wires wouldn't reach far enough and I bought a V8 wire kit just in case, but those worries were probably unfounded... now I have wires that are WAY too long... oh well. I didn't have to adjust the vacuum advance at all... just the slightest of rotation tweaks and the timing was perfect.

Product itself is awesome, works great and has woken up my tired motor. My issue is with customer service. Emails sent through Amazon AND directly through the company's website were wholly ingnored. Phone calls ring and ring with no answer. I need advice on how to adjust the vacuum advance, something usually done with a 3/32nd allen wrench but which doesn't work on this model. It's a two second answer and it's like the company doesn't exist. I'll eventually figure it out I'm sure, but I'll go elsewhere for my parts from now on. Absolutley frustrating process.

Hands down the best upgrade for the anemic 3.3 I6 Ford. I installed this in a 1982 Fairmont and the difference was night and day. No more flat spot under acceleration. Actually peppy now. I used a relay to feed it power directly from the battery at the solenoid, use the original positive at the coil to trigger the relay on. Small timing adjustment was all that was needed, used my plug wires as they weren’t that old. Fully self contained so the duraspark box, original coil, and related wiring was eliminated and replaced with a simple 30 amp relay and fuse.
