For the price, you really can't beat it, these definitely aren't very good radios as far as RF filtering is concerned, and the short stubby antenna that it came with (but doesn't say in the listing) is kind of cheaply built, but besides that the radio, and all the stuff it said it would come with is good for the price. 👍

I have tested it with a 6" and 15" antenna. Both of them has a very similar performance for UHF. It has a 10 watt power output, but its a performance is pretty much the same as another 5 watt power output Boafeng radio. :(Just FYI, the range is ~1.6 miles in a dense residential area or 40 minutes walking distance. It is an affordable radio with some drawback such as high second harmonic radio emission. This radio may not for professional use. But if you just want to use it for emergency, within a campsite or a hiking area, this radio it's a pretty good choice.

The radios work as intended. If you know how a baofeng is, this is it. I bought this package specifically for price and shipping speed. If you can find one without the garbage antennas for cheaper, go with it. Programming cable is nice. USB cables are short. The rest is all standard rent quality.

Very easy to program using Chirp. Easy to navigate using buttons. Was able to talk on simplex mountain top to valley easily 23 miles. Mountain top to mountain top connected easily with a two meter repeater 95 miles away using the stock short antenna on medium power. Standby battery life is good but a larger battery option would be nice. Transmit power into a dummy load was 9 watts on VHF and 7 watts on UHF. Type C charging is a plus as is the air band receiving. Weather is at the push of a button. Sound quality is good and it feels solid in hand.

My problem isn't with the seller, it is with the manufacturer, that being Baofeng. One of the radios had a defective power switch. So it was a QC problem with Baofeng itself. I returned the package for an exchange. The AR5RM is a darn good radio for the price. I have several of them with no issues at all. I just happened to get one with a bad power switch. Amazon is taking care of it so it's all good!
