Thjis book holder with storage area is just danged handy!Using it for holding a cookbook open is a great use of this thing, so is keeping a book open as you use it for reference as you work or draw at the computer or easel. The storage compartment and phone holder features are a great touch. While manipulating the device was not "easy" to do due to its stiffness, I also didn't feel like it would just collapse under the weight of a hefty book. I imagine a little oil at the joints can help with the stiffness if it's too much for you, but for me it was alright. It may be a little touch for a child or woman -- though I figure in most uses it will be set once then always be in that position. It's one of the most attractive looking book holders I have ever come across, looking more like a piece of furniture for the desk or table than a cheapo plastic book/document holder that I am used to seeing on otherwise nice looking desks. This thing ADDS to the look and quality of a desk setup rather than detracting from it in a purely utilitarian manner. If you appreciate style and form incoporated with good function (opposite of the Bauhaus ethic that has plagued western design for too long now) this book holder is for you. Thank you designers who design items like this even if there are cheaper to produce alternatives that function while looking bleh.Five stars!

My only complaint is that the holder is awkward - well, I didn’t like it - as a lap accessory for reading. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I have to say this is a most handy thing. It has plenty of storage for pens and a note pad, or other small items in the base. The stand can handle a heavy book with ease. I saw no indications of the hinges being stressed in the least. The clamps (or whatever they’re called, also had no issues adjusting to a larger, thicker book. The Stan was also handy for laptop use as it held it more at eye level which help my posture. It’s well made, with quality materials and an attention to detail.

I use these stands a lot at home and work. This is the best I’ve found. It is well-designed, superbly constructed, and elegant in appearance. It supports books firmly (both medium and large) and tablets. My laptop is too large for it. The stand sits solidly in place - both on the desk and vertically (the support arms are *very* stiff at first). The storage compartment is useful.Best of all are the page holders. These are the weakest feature on my other 2 book holders, neither one holding the pages adequately on most books. The holders on this stand do the job. They hold the pages and are easily adjusted. Also, they fold away when not needed. Warning: they are firm, so treat the pages delicately to avoid rips. This is an excellent product at a great price. I highly recommend it.

I like to read while eating dinner but it so hard to hold up the book. I hit this stand for that purpose and it works very well. The page holders are sort of difficult though, I wish they had the balls on the part that touches the paper because I accidentally tore my library book! Oops! It’s a very thick book though so that’s probably not the norm. The hinge is very stiff to adjust but it should stay where you put it. Has storage underneath for reading glasses, pens or bookmarks, it’s cork lined. The stand is heavy so not the best for moving around.

This bookstand is sturdy, and the hinges are very firm. I’m using it as a laptop easel for sketching in my notebooks, and for writing in notebooks, and it works perfectly for that. I also plan to take it to my sewing classes so that I can have instruction sheets easily visible beside my sewing machine. I like that the moveable page holders have rubbery tips to prevent damage to books or papers. I also like the storage dividers for pens and supplies, but note that there is a gap when the stand is folded flat. So, if I put it in a backpack or carry it around a classroom, I’ll put my pens in a zipper case in the storage compartment to keep everything together.

Very well made, attractive piece.Easy to adjust height and angle, yet once set, it stays in place, which is not always the case with this kind of product. The large clips in front are easy to adjust, and hold things in place as needed. They can also be rotated completely out of the way, which is helpful if you want to use the stand for an iPad or the like. It even accommodates my 17" MacBook Air, although the clip anchor gets a bit in the way if I'm typing, so I wouldn't use it for extended typing sessions. The storage compartment is a nice feature. On the whole, a well designed, well executed piece, and a good value.

My Bible has coloring pages that I decorate with colored pencils on occasion and it's too much to pull them both out separate and keep everything in order. This book holder is great for that. The little wings hold the pages down and in place, the small "shelf" at the bottom can keep the largest of books from sliding and the compartment underneath has plenty of room.I have 72 pencils and it pops just 2 of them out when I fold the top down. The rest stay in place. It takes a little force to open and shut it but that guarantees it won't fall easily. You can angle your book in any position to read so this is great for tables, desks and in your lap in bed.I love it!

It works as a book stand. I like the little compartment underneath (would be useful to store supplies if using the stand as an easel, for example), and the stand can fold flat for storage. While it does feel sturdy for a book, I’m not sure I would put a heavier laptop on it. Typing lightly on a tablet makes the stand shake. The materials could be better quality, and the hinges for both the stand and the clips could be smoother. 3.5 stars.
