Not again!!! For second time, after 6 months, one of the little hands that holds closed the door, broke! The technique is fantastic, I love it, but the plastic rigid quality needs to be improved. Meanwhile, I will try something else… not another chance!

Created a closet under the stairs and built a small 1” thick door with a dummy door knob to match the existing doors knobs on the 1st level. Chose these push latch cabinet latches to keep the door closed. One latch was sufficient to do the job but installed the second latch after a couple weeks.

I put these on a floor cabinet that the cat kept prying open and dumping stuff on the floor. They worked; he can’t get in; although he still tries.. Ha ha….They appear solid enough for light to medium doors. They’re plastic; so I don’t think I’d recommend them for heavier doors. You can stick them on with their adhesive pads, but I screwed them in. I don’t know if the adhesive would stand up to repeated use.

I installed a set of the latches on some lightweight, hinge plumbing access panels in my garage. I liked them because they made a clean installation with no knobs or latches showing. Within a week one of them had lost the ability to latch. I figured it was a fluke and ordered a second set. 90 days later, even though none of the panels have been accessed, that most of them have failed. These latches lose the ability to stay latched after a very short time and are a waste of money.

Had to use these on magnetic latches on my hidden gun case. Magneric locks let loose when I closed my front door. These latches hold till you press on the door. Great fix for my magnetic failure.

The thingy works fine if you know how to operate it. But if you have visitors who don't know that they have to push instead of pull (I have it installed in my kitchen cabinet,) even my almost 80-year old mother-in-law is able to break it – it opens but doesnt snap back in again. Have to buy my 3rd pair now in lack of alternatives.
