Everything other arm chair pad that uses memory foam compresses way too easily. This one has the right firmness. Outside material is a nice soft cotton tshirt-like weave, doesnt get uncomfortable like other arm covers can that have a rough texture. My only small complaint is the indentions that are in the middle of the pads, there's no reason for this as your arm should be straight along the pad not at any angle for best ergonomics.

I work from home 8+ hrs a day on a computer. I have arm/shoulder pain on my mouse arm. These have really helped to provide support. I put them on the arm rests in my mini van as well. The straps are long enough to wrap around. I entered a 5 for softness because I think they are the perfect softness as far as the fabric. The foam part is firm.

Wow! I cannot believe the difference these pads made in minutes. I am 5'3, left handed, and wear multifocal lenses. I struggle terribly with desk comfort. These pads lift both of my arms to a better height and provide perfect support for my tender left elbow and arm.Oh yeah: the velcro straps are pretty long, and caused no trouble with the arms of my chair (this is a problem with some other products I've tried.

Could be softer, I am large male and my elbow only sink about 1/2+ inch into the 2.5 inch arm rest, but well made.
