The pictures of the crocheted plant family are pretty irresistible in this kit marketed to beginners, and I really wanted to like it. So it's very disappointing that the kit proved quite challenging even for those who know the basics of both crochet and stitchery and that there are no projects for true beginners. Some of the issues are the lack of precise and accurate instructions - the pattern was unclear, there's no key to abbreviations it uses, and it lacks guidelines in case a beginner gets lost. As well, the pictures don't always illustrate the steps purporting to be shown, and some are inaccurate causing confusion (e.g., an incorrect number of rows are shown, the pot base is depicted with unrealistic flatness, etc.). The pattern says say to use stuffing for the pot, but doesn't provide a way to measure how much to use. Additionally, there's no helpful instruction how to sew together the individual crocheted pieces of a project such as the leaves, the pot lid and its bottom, nor how to sew on the facial expressions. Videos are available via QR codes but they don't make up for the shortcomings. The completed pot with leaves is very cute but it was almost abandoned mid-crocheting due to frustrations mentioned above, and for that reason the rating is lower. Experienced crocheters may have been able to navigate through these challenges, but beginners become discouraged. Had this kit been marketed to more advanced or at least intermediate crocheters who are okay with less instruction, it would merit a significantly higher rating as the project, if you can finish it, is very sweet.

This is a good kit for anyone who loves plants, loves to crochet, and may or may not be good taking care of plants.The kit is contained in a plastic zip top bag that can be used as a project bag if needed.This kit comes with the supplies you need to make lots of crochet plants, tho you may run out of supplies if you attempt to make all of the items in the kit.The eyes are safety eyes which is great, the ideal choice over eyes requiring hot glue.The yarn is decent yarn for an experienced beginner, tho it does get a little splitty when used because the hook is very small. The hook is an ergonomic hook that is pretty smooth and commonly found in kits.It is weird that some yarn is wound differently than other, tho they all seem to be the same yarn type. I wish there were multiple shades of green since there are different types of plants.There are a few plastic stitch markers, and there are both plastic and metal needles and a nice tube style needle holder.The stuffing comes vacuum sealed in multiple packages which is good for storage and nice when you are not making all of the projects at one time.There is a QR code for the instructions in a PDF as well as basic stitch instructions for a new crocheter.Overall it is a nice kit, tho you may run out of yarn prior to completing all of the projects. It is not a great kit for a person learning to crochet, but would be ok for someone who is a new. The small hook and splittable yarn can be a challenge for a newer crocheter. It is a nice alternative for someone who wants to make amigarumi projects but does not want to make animals.
