Ride Comfort may be important, but restoring a vehicle’s Ride Control; stability, stopping, lane change responsiveness and handling is critical. KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities. KYB is a world leading supplier of shocks and struts to new vehicle manufacturers and the Excel-G is made on the very same KYB OE assembly lines, uses the same OE quality components and is calibrated to restore original, designed performance, not change it. That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include and it is the preferred choice for Asian vehicles.

Someone from the US indicated that he ordered a pair of struts and got one from Malaysia and one from Japan. This was in 2017 over five years ago and conditions have not changed since because this is what I got. So, it looks like this is a "fixed" KYB supplier chain issue and you cannot attempt to order more in the hopes of getting a "matched pair". This is why I only scored 4 out of 5 stars.*** Regarding the one 2016 review of the spring perch being off 180deg for the right side strut.*** Please IGNORE that review as the technician was confused. The struts from KYB are all 100% correct and if you look at the 2016 photo, you will note that the technician is pointing to the old strut with the new KYB strut on the left. The old strut was a LEFT side strut because the step in the perch is over the tie rod end mount and was installed incorrectly (i.e., on the right side of the car).Post-Installation Update: Installed these in my 2005 AWD 5-Speed Element. These replaced the shock absorber portion of the Monroe "Quick-Strut" units installed in the car when I bought it. Luckily I was able to reuse the springs and seats from the Monroe QS's. These are much stiffer than the Monroe QS units and are apparently closer to stock OEM Honda shock absorbers. Much improved high-speed comfort and better overall handling. Totally worth the cost to upgrade.

Tried to save some money by using TRQ struts but when I installed them my steering wheel was way off centered. I did not disturbe the adjustment on my tie rod. I purchased these KYB struts installed them now my steering wheel is back to centered. The KYB struts metal is very stout and the physical design of the strut matches the original honda strut. Better made and the construction of the strut is accurately machined. Only time will tell how long these KYB struts lasts.

Kyb are great struts , but in an element pay attention to the direction the spring coils .. if passengers side is opposite of the drivers this will not work

If you are purchasing this KYB strut for your 08 and up element you must purchase the spring from the dealership from a 03-06 element. As a previous review states the spring perch is 180 degrees off. You can purchase the OEM strut online for +/-161.00 about the same cost as buying this strut and oem spring. Other wise it works great for 03-06 element.

Bought this one and the other front at the same time. Warehouse deals does a poor job of packaging but it's a strut so not much can go wrong. Strut includes the top nut and is hooked compressed so prime the strut a few times before installing. Be advised these are much stiffer than OEM. The element already produces a lot of noise but with these you're going to hear much more but the trade-off is much better handling.

I Ordered 4 KYB struts for our 2003 Honda Element. The rear struts were a matching pair of KYB 344611 Excel-G Gas Struts that were made in USA and they were a pleasure to install. The front struts, KYB 331046 Excel-G Gas Strut and KYB 331047 Excel-G Gas Strut are supposed to be a matched pair for the front of a car. I was uncomfortable with the fact that the struts that were actually delivered were made in two different factories. One came from Japan while the other came from Malaysia. KYB USA has information that says all their factories are the same, but I would have preferred to get a pair made by the same team of engineers and machine operators. I could not guess know how many times I would have to return and reorder to get lucky and have a matched pair sent out, so I gave in and installed the two front struts. I noticed that the Japanese product seemed to have stiffer actuation and seemed to have better finish with the welds, metal stamping, and paint. I wish I had just gotten a matched pair of one or the other so I wouldn't have had the chance to compare. The car is high mileage so I am hoping that I will not have to find out if one wears out before the other. Finally, the KYB packaging is not prepared for parcel shipment, Amazon plops the KYB box in an amazon box and kicks it off the loading dock. The insufficient packaging resulted in the fact that each of the KYB boxes were destroyed by the strut bouncing around and poking through the top bottom and sides. The proper thing to do would be to open the KYB box and stuff it with something to secure the shock for shipment through a parcel service. The existing packaging is obviously meant for palette delivery to a parts jobber who can handle the packaging with due care until final delivery to a work shop.

Unfortunately it seems that KYB failed to note the spring seat orientation on the strut design for the Front Right strut. Rear shocks were perfectly fine and the Front Left was fine as well, but the spring seat is rotated 180 degrees in the improper direction on Front Right. I even asked for a replacement and the second one to arrive looks identical to the first. It puts the shock at a different angle than intended, so I wouldn't recommend installing these up front. Unfortunately the other 3 were already installed, so I'll have to bite the bullet and pay about $50 dollars more for one OEM Honda strut. Had I known about this, I would have ordered OEM struts up front. Thankfully Amazon is great at handling orders, so I was able to return the bad one with no issues. I'll attach a couple photos to show the OEM strut's spring seat and the KYB one to give you an idea of the difference in orientation.
