The KYB MonoMax is a heavy duty monotube shock absorber that provides the most handling, control and durability of any KYB shock; and it’s just for trucks. The MonoMax’s tough design automatically adjusts to driving conditions with fade-free performance. The KYB MonoMax has an outstanding reputation for vehicles that do real work, go off-road, tow a trailer or haul heavy loads. It uses a work-ready, zinc-coated steel piston ring and includes an off-road dust boot.

If you are working on a lowered Volvo 240, these are the rear shocks to get! While originally intended for Chevy trucks, they are the perfect length and stroke for the rear end of a lowered Volvo 240 series. These will properly control springs in the 200-275lb/in range without issues unlike stock replacement Volvo shocks that are intended for springs half those rates. One caution is that the lower mounting sleeve is one size larger than on the Volvo, you may be tempted to get the pack of alternate sized sleeves from KYB to press out the one that comes on the shock and replace with the correct one but do not do it. The sleeve is bonded with the rubber bushing in the end of the shock so pressing it out will destroy the shock bushing as well which KYB does not sell replacements for. You can take an aluminum can and cut out a section of side of the can to wrap around roughly 2.5 times and then insert into the shock end to act as a bushing between the bolt and the sleeve to take up the ~1mm of difference. You may also need to get additional washer to shim the shock in the lower trailing arms as the sleeve on the shock is shorter in length than the Volvo part in my experience.

Used for 1998 gmc 4x4 with no lift, replacing some worn out monroe shocks all around, along with stabilizer links/bushings etc to correct sloppy steering/body roll which as part of the replacement they worked. Now after about 3 years they are not holding up, I put about 10k miles on them before I cracked a stabilizer link to the control arm. Now I need to replace them as well as the links. 3 years might not be bad if I was doing 10k a year but I barely did 3k a year.

Great shocks. They were a perfect fit for up front in my 2002 S10 Zr2. Truck has 182K miles on it and these made it feel like new all over again. Can't believe the difference it made. Nice solid ride (but not rough), and no more nose-diving when I apply the brakes.Added bonus is they look really sharp under there, peeking out over the front tires.

Replaced the factory supplied shocks with these KYB's, there stiffer then the OEM shocks, after 500 miles they losen up some and settle in, the ride is firm, i dont go off road so i dont know how they would hold up in that application, i mainly run the highways, so far so good i have 13,000 miles on them and the ride feels good.price was best i found and fast shipping, i like ordering from Amazon, the web site works good and i can find what i want when i need it, and returns are easy,
