I use this to make my soiless soil for my plants. It works great, keeps things moist but promotes great drainage.

I wanted to love this after hearing such good things from ppl I know who uses this.Not sure if it was just my batch, but even after soaking and buffering, like I do other coco chips, I found this one to take so long to get completely soaked.When using it, the chips don't absorb water like most other chips, so substrate dries out much faster.I didn't toss it, and just mix in a very small ratio in my homemade mix. May try again if I keep hearing good things about this one.

I make my own tropical plant soil and these chips work very well as part of the mix. They are a good value v buying 'ready made' soil

Ive never tried this product type. I am using it for mulch in an outdoor garden. I bought 4 bricks, soaked them in water for a couple hours and they seemed to have expanded as much as they were going to. What came of all four bricks was not even a wheelbarrow full. But I did like the texture and color so I spread it out in the garden and ordered more. This time I bought ten bricks which got me a small discount per brick but it doesn't go far if you use it as mulch like I am. I like the product but I think it's a little pricey.
