Minimal assembly required. Excellent description and photos on Amazon. A how-to-assemble sheet was included. This small easel looks perfect, the wooden pieces are smooth, all the hardware/screws were included. It looks excellent for display of small works of art and for practical use as a table-top support for a painter. I think it's a bargain.

After using this brand many years due to great quality & stability of easels, I’m disappointed to see the resource shortages & costs have encroached on wood quality & seems as if it is much smaller, thinner & less stable than previous years. It’ll still be usable but ease of movements & use won’t be in my quality mix. Sorry:-(

There were many to choose here from but this one is exactly what I needed. I comes totally assembled, except for one piece, which I appreciated. Very light weight. Great for small paintings. No complaints here. Would definitely recommend.

Edit - 01/11:After reading my negative review, Meeden requested to send me a new easel, despite my earlier contact with them regarding the issue. The new easel works as it should and doesn't have the chips or the incorrectly sized center piece. I'm upgrading my review to only 4 stars since customer service only stepped in after I wrote the negative review, not when I had contacted them prior.Original Review:The idea of having an adjustable desktop easel like this one is great, unfortunately the quality control and customer service were not great.Mine arrived with the bottom canvas holder chipped and assembled incorrectly. The top canvas holder was on backwards and the top adjuster had to be reoriented. Furthermore, the top canvas holder can't be adjusted smoothly because the wood was not properly sanded so it catches and has to be yanked hard in order to get past the unfinished part.I did try contacting Meeden's customer service but they only offered a partial refund instead of replacing the damaged and unfinished product. I would not buy an easel from them again - the quality control was so poor and I was not impressed by the customer service given how unfinished the product was.

I know this is large for a table top easel but it's smaller than my standing one so that's why my title says "little". It's a great size for table top painting because it holds larger canvases. It's easy to use and setup. I read a review where they said the easel was backwards but the manufacturer addresses this with instructions for setup in the box.I'm very happy with this easel and would definitely get again!

It’s the perfect compact size and weight for a tabletop easel. It’s built well and took 1min to set up by reversing the middle post into the slots. For those complaining about this, it's stated right in the description and it's literally one screw.I am somewhat disappointed because it does not hold up to 25”h canvas. I specifically bought it for 18x24” canvas and the top holder is too low at its highest point. Yeah, the easel technically holds the canvas but doesn’t lock it in place which is kind of useless when painting.I’ll keep it for smaller works and landscape orientation but not for what I intended it for.

This easel is sturdy. I love that it's a real artist easel with out taking up the space or cost of a large one. Its light weight but sturdy enough not to topple with large canvases in place. It holds small canvases as well as large ones. This will also hold canvas panels as well. This is a good buy for someone who loves to paint but cant dedicate alot of money or space to it.
