Unit did not work for me. It output 6w max from me, from a solar panel I connected with another MPPT which was getting 170w total. It failed my test. Perhaps I got a bad unit, however would not try it again. This is going back.The cables are nice and silicone, the plastic housing feels cheap.

This unit has no heatsink on back of unit. Is it a real MPPT controller ???For 15 amps solar charger, it only handles 180 watts of solar at 12v ??? Does not compute.Also instructions are fairly useless. Does not explain how to setup charging voltage and start charge voltage. Menu is archaic and awkward at best. Buttons are not intuitive at all.Pain in the but to set.Wires coming out of unit are way too short.Also it shows a 24v 800 watt solar array connected to this unit, no way, it can only handle about 24v 360 watts from solar panels. Weird advertisement.

A close review of the specifications for this charge controller shows that it meant for a low power auxiliary system. The specifications for this charge controller essentially mean that it is meant to be used with two 12-volt panels in parallel. Whether in twelve-volt mode or in twenty-four-volt mode, this controller can only handle 15 amps of current. Two twelve-volt panels in series will have a voltage of over 30 volts, which is beyond what this unit can handle. Again, it can handle up to fifteen amps DC current, so it becomes a matter of using sufficient grade cabling to lessen line resistance losses. I would use at least 12 AWG PV cable, but my preference would be to use 10 AWG. Using two 24-volt panels in parallel means having to watch the produced DC amperage closely, as you may be getting close to the limit of 15 amps DC. Also, as this controller does not have a visible surface mounted heat sink, that means that it is somehow releasing the generated heat inside of it. The heat must go somewhere. Another concern with this unit is that it has an IP rating of 32, which means that it must be kept indoors and protected from any weather elements. The controller can work down to minus four degrees Fahrenheit, which is good in and of itself, but the battery that it is working with most likely needs to be at 40 degrees Fahrenheit to charge. Again, for a low power system, this charge controller should do OK. I did not realize all of these issues when I ordered it, so I am still considering how I will eventually use this device.

Review for: 15A 12V/24V MPPT Solar Charge Controller, PowMr Power Intelligent Portable Solar Panel Controller, Max PV 180W/360W with LCD Display for 12/24 Volt Gel AGM Lead-Acid, Lithium LiFePO4 BatteryThis controller appears to work as it should. I tested on a 12V, 50AH LiFePO4 battery using a 80 watt panel. The direct daylight in our yard is rather short right now but the battery was full charged in two days, pretty much as expected due to the shortness of light. In full sunlight I saw a little over 3 amps charging current.The display stays on full time, meaning it will drain the battery a bit over long term. I would rather have a display that can be turned off, but I have two similar chargers that do the same. The display dims after a few seconds which will save power, but is not readable outdoors at all unless I press a button to brighten it up. Not a complaint, probably better that way. But I would rather the display be full brightness when charging.There is no settings for different kinds of lithium batteries as my other controllers have. I was a bit worried about that but it appeared to work and will only be used occasionally for non-committed batteries, not in a permanent installation.Overall, an OK charger. Someone else mentioned in a review that it is limited to 30 volts input. If that is true, it would be an issue for 24 volt batteries.

Shame on me for assuming it was 50+v input… but 30v basically defeats the purpose of an MPPT when 100-200w panels are 19-22v, it works but with a 30v limit it’s basically parallel only.
