My original review is below but now, after about a week, one of two of these switcher boxes has stopped working. It still lights up to show the current selection but I'm not getting any input through to my computer even after unplugging and replugging all cables and rebooting the computer.I returned the defective one for a refund and bought a different model as a replacement. The second unit is still working so far.-----Original review: "Works well but..."This switcher works alright but it’s a little too “smart”. Despite what the included user manual says, this switcher *does* actually automatically switch between computers when you wake one up from sleep. It's not ideal. I would prefer that it only switch between computers when I choose to do so by pressing the button. It also won’t let you switch to a computer that is currently asleep. This means you can’t switch to it and press a key or move your mouse to wake it if the switcher isn’t already set to that computer. Also not ideal.Otherwise, good working product. Oh, and you may want to add some adhesive felt or rubber pads to the bottom side because it's a metal box that doesn't have any pads and you probably don't want it to make marks on your desk.

The reason I needed this was to transfer files from one computer to another. I just built a new computer and wanted to take advantage of my ultra-wide monitors PbP function but it didn't have a built-in KVM switch or USB hub. This was a sweet way of getting the job done! Both computers fired-up utilizing a split screen and this device to switch keyboard and mouse control from one to the other. The only issue I had was when plugging the USB drive into the device and transferring files, the keyboard is pretty much useless with the massive delays, although the mouse still worked properly. This could have something to do with the Logitech Unified Dongle. So it did limit my ability to multi-task, but it was a way better option than switching a monitor back and forth between computers. The main reason I bought this one over the vast sea of switches here on Amazon is because the case is metal, NO PLASTIC with this one! I hope this helps people in their researching process.

As expected it switches between two computers. It switches fast and is incredibly well built. Feels like a heavy duty (though small and compact) metal network switch you'd have on your server rack in terms of quality.My favorite part is the switch button. I know it seems minor but the switch button is such a nice and solid *click* that there's absolutely no question when you press the button. My old switch was sorta mushy feeling and I'd have to check the light occasionally to see if it actually switched to a different device because it was sorta slow and wasn't super obvious. This button is like a substantial and satisfying CLICK feeling.So far I absolutely recommend this USB switch. Had no issues using it with my Windows PC, MacBook Pro, Chromebook (Pixelbook), and my Lenovo Linux OS laptop. Seems universal as expected with a very nice quality to it.CON:My only gripe is the labels on it are very loud looking. A black housing with a bright blue label with big writing saying "USB 3.0 Switch Selector". The product does not need that on it at all and it makes it look a little ugly - that should be on the packaging or in the form of a peel away sticker or something. But ultimately, who cares I'm going to eventually mount it in a drawer anyway. I needed a reliable switch and this appears to be exactly that.If you need a switch for two computers with 4 USB ports for peripherals then I highly recommend this one.

I was impressed by the build quality of this device. The finish was evenly textured, the lights were clear, the fit of the button and the ports was perfect. The cables were heavy and 6 feet long, I think they were true USB 3.0. Everything inserted cleanly and with a solid fitment. The switch operated cleanly and had a subtle but satisfying click when switching, something I missed in my other switch.One thing stood out, the box seems to be weighted. It was impressively heavy for it's size, and I assume the reason was to keep it level and still when cables are plugged in. Other switch reviews I read complained about light weight boxes floating or sliding off the table from the weight of the cables. The SGEYR stayed where I put it. Also, the weight gave an illusion of quality, like it had more value inside, something I felt even though I was aware of it, so enjoy that.I did have to return mine. It didn't work with one of my computers, and it wasn't a bad cable. They accepted my return without giving me a hard time. It may be that my second computer wasn't compatible with this newer hardware; the switch I replaced it with is much older. It worked like a dream with my fancy keyboard and newer computer.I do recommend this switch, I felt it was much better made than the others I've had.
