Well... it works for locking out your know on your spicket for sure. Absolutely does what it says and just spins so no water will come through the hose. I bought my own separate lock because i was super skeptical of the strength of the one with it so I can't speak on that. This was very easy to install and goes on quickly. The problem I see lies in the material. I could break the thing off with no issue and it would come apart with ease without my having to worry with the lock. So a determined water thief... still has access. That being said... it would be noisy. If you are home or have close neighbors then it would definitely make a cracking noise. That in itself may be the determining factor for someone passing it up as too much risk or trouble. It does seem to be helping as my water bill didn't double AGAIN this month. I had purposefully gotten into a routine of leaving things a very specific way and I was definitely getting water stolen. Apparently a lot. My bill has gone down and my hose is always exactly like I left it now which for me makes me think they aren't even attempting to touch it. The bright red seems to be enough of a warning. 🤣Hope it works for you!

We are a bit off-label on our use. We got them to keep our kids out of the propane tank knobs for safety, not for maintenance work. They only work on some grill propane tanks even though we get them all through the exchange companies. So watch out for that.Strong plastic, but still plastic.

We have several homeless that come to our complex and like to turn on the water just to watch is run in the street. Not to use or drink or wash, rather just to waste the water and laugh at those attempting to shut off the valves. These are very well made, heavy and strong. Exactly what we needed to stop the riffraff.

We purchased these for rental properties because tenants haven't been considerate with watch usage outdoors allowing it to overflow, car wash parties ect. It doesn't come with a lock yet I highly recommend.
