I'm like another reviewer- quite skeptical but willing to be open minded and truly DID hope it would work!I'm not in love btw right off the bat with not being told WHAT it really is- the "crystals" within the screen that you rinse/ wash after use... I can only hope they are not dissolvable and hope that's true considering they say it can be out in even a hot dishwasher! (And last indefinitely it seems unless I mis-read that!)BUT- for this price ($$!) I am less than convinced!! Laughing that maybe my problem is that I'm using too good of a liquor to tell the improvement...🤣🤣🤨... but I did dig out some older "Jack" and tried it... part of my problem is that it takes a decent pour in my normal rocks glass to feel I'm really stirring this thru the liquid, but I tilted the glass and gave it a go (and tried using in smaller glass first and then added to ice in regular glass after testing with the bourbon- and for this girl, I also enjoy it ALL the more with my homemade vanilla simple syrup and a very good juicy cocktail cherry- not the icky flavored/colored ones that most people get for dessert😘- but a good quality natural marachino (mezzeta is a decent priced easy enough to find brand btw) and call it "[my] sweet bourbon crush"😘😄Even my husband admits it's a really good drink to sip- esp when it's made and handed to him (w/a bit less sweet) as we settle in to enjoy a good movie or show! 😏😘I even enjoy adding a bit of that NOLA treat- Southern Comfort- to really put it over the top! (though I refuse to add it to a few bourbon brands!😘 I'm not a complete hobo! 🤣 but come on- that's pretty ironic considering what we're reviewing here...as S.C's sole purpose as I understand it's history to be, is to make far lesser quality bourbons/whiskeys of centuries past, far more palatable!! Same purpose as what I'm reviewing basically!) 😆But I digress- figure that's gonna be the nature of the beast with a product like this that is SOOO open to not only interpretation, but to flat out pontification!!😏🤣 (like which note did it also remove... and how many stirs to get there?!)Guess the bottom line:*I'm not sure that this product is what made some people have a 'more potent' spirit, or if that is because you're testing it... and testing it... on straight liquor or spirits (pleural😏😆) to see if this really does remove unwanted or harsh "compounds" ...OR is this " more of a "placebo effect"??! Either way, the "research"🤓😂 is the most likely reason for you "feeling it " quicker and thinking it's made your spirit more "potent", if you will!😉)(whoa- side note! JUST noticed a big photo in the listing- of them stirring a brown spirit while ON the rocks!! 😄 Guess I can skip that step if I do keep using this)Anyway...lol...Chances are, the truth's somewhere in the middle- as most truths tend to be- though I've evidently got FAR less of a 'refined palate' than some who reviewed this! 😘🫣🤣If you can truly tell that level of change/improvement with such specificity as to get down to "how many stirs it takes to use to remove [specific] notes"... then by ALL means! It would be well worth every dime... and let's face it, if you're STILL with me and reading this- along with the other reviews, reading all about the product, and, likely looking for info about it elsewhere on the internet too, 😏 then you likely aren't really sweating the price and realize it would certainly be a great addition to what is likely quite an impressive bar!! 😉Personally, I think this will make a great addition to THAT person's bar... or save them some money-long term- by enabling them to enjoy lesser priced spirits... but my suspicion is, that aforementioned customer has no interest in this long term savings outcome, but will instead look at it as an investment that will become a treasured part (and fun topic of party conversations for yrs to come) of their likely impressive collection!!Honestly, it would be just like adding a mid to mid-upper level bottle to your collection of whatever you enjoy! This was a fun review to do😉😆 and this product, when it truly comes down to brass tacks, should cause no harm even if it doesn't help improve the taste or smoothness... and most who would actually order it and pay top $ for it, will likely get all they need out of it! ... and then some!!😉I seriously doubt there are customers out there looking to this product to truly help them save money by being able to forevermore buy all their liquor from the lower shelves in the ABC store or the store brand of their fav at the same warehouse they stock up on everything in bulk... 😏 though to be fair, some of those DO have some great wine selections! 😆😉Lol- hope this helped even one who's actually gonna read to this point!

As a frequent imbiber of various brown liquors of various qualities, I was very curious about this device. Lots of research and testing went into it. The price tag is too high for it to be a cheap gimmick. I'm open-minded. Let's try it.After using it a few times, I honestly can't tell a difference in my drinks. I wanted to. I really did. But I didn't.

Tried it with a bottom shelf bourbon - Stedman's Select Bourbon Whiskey – before and after. One swirl of the Stir-Ring made for a much improved drinking experience!I really look forward to trying this on a cheap tequila.

I was very skeptical about this item -- nowhere does it tell you HOW it works. I expected a hollow screen ball on a stick. But discovered that it has some type of clear crystals inside. They are clear/white crystals and move freely inside the screen ball. I double checked again and still cannot find out what those crystals are. Maybe that is a manufacturing secret but I sure would like to know what I am stirring into my drink. It worries me since this is not made in USA and other countries may not have as strict rules about what we eat and drink as the US does. Am I stirring something into my drink that I should not ingest? I don't know. I ran it under plain water and tasted the result -- completely tasteless. So I gathered my courage and decided to try it with my favorite bourbon. Sipping a little bit of untreated bourbon I then stirred the Stir-ring into another glass of bourbon and tasted it. I immediately noticed a slight sulphur gas smell from the bourbon even before I tasted it. When I did taste it I was shocked to see that the Stir-ring actually worked. I sipped it a couple more times to be sure and indeed, the bourbon that had been stirred was smoother and tasted better with less burn going down. Smelling the Stir-ring I noticed that it too now had a slight sulphur gas smell. It also seemed like the bourbon "hit me" harder than normal. So the Stir-ring does work but how does it work and what am I ingesting to enjoy the smoother bourbon? And will the crystals dissolve and fade over time? I don't know although the seller says that this is even dishwasher safe. That somewhat concerns me since I would feel that it would be hard to really thoroughly rinse all the dishwasher dirty water and soap out of this item.I gave this four stars because of the sulphur gas smell and because I have no idea and the seller does not tell us, how it works. But it definitely does work.

I have no idea what is in this and was skeptical, but this really does make a difference. The first test was 12 year Knob Creek, one of my favorites. On the nose you get a cherry core swirling in a cloud of slightly musty woodiness from the barrel which carries over to a taste made complex by these components. After 5 swirls of the Stir-ring the musty oak was essentially gone on the nose replaced by a pure cherry scent (reminded me a bit of Four Roses). The palate showed the same removal of the woody components for a much smoother taste. Honestly I am not sure I found it an improvement but clearly it was changed. Perhaps two swirls would remove the rough edges but keep the complexity. The second test was on Kirkland Tequila Blanco. Untreated on the nose it smelled of cheap tequila that I would not have guessed was 100% agave, but it is. The same cheapness was noticeable on the palate with any fruitiness masked by other less appealing flavors. I would not sip this.Once treated this showed much sweeter and less cheap while the palate had lost all of the off flavors and revealed the sweet agave buried in it, something you could sip for sure. Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t turn into an Ocho or El Tesoro but it was a major improvement.Bottom line this works. You may not always find the change an improvement and some experimentation on number of swirls to use (they say it works rapidly so take care). Highly recommended and have fun experimenting!
