Tailors chalk is something every sewist needs, whether you make bags, clothing, home decor, whatever. The chalk is easy to use marks well; when you are through, simply wipe off! If you make a measurement mistake, simply wipe off your mark and start over! No need to worry about staining your project with inks, no need to have to iron a heat pen marks away (or for those items that cannot be ironed). The chalk comes packaged in a long styrofoam sleeve as you can see, which protected it from breakage, even though the box was slightly beat up in transit. The chalk is in triangular pieces of 4 different colors, making it easy to hold, long-lasting, and useful for different colored fabric to contrast for easy visual detail. It's safe to use on anything! Very economical and useful!

These chalks fit my hand, are not fragile, do not chip or break easily. Love using this thicker chalk for marking hems and seams when making clothing alterations. Washes out of clothing easily. Will reorder if these big chalks ever get used up.

Love the chalk, it is easy to hold and use. It doesn’t come off easily so put in the reverse side of fabric or where it will go inside seam.I do like them for their design and ease to hold and use.The only thing that keeps this from being 5 stars is it doesn’t wash off easily.

Excellent to use for sewing/ marking. It was fairly pigmented. I love the shape and the thinness of the tips.

I've been using tailor's chalk pencils for marking fabric because that was what was available, and getting very frustrated. The lines were thick and, if I sharpened the pencil to a point, the point kept breaking off. Not with these old-fashioned tailor's chalk markers! The markers are very comfortable to grip, easier on my old hands than holding a pencil. The chalks come in four different colors, so you can pick one that shows well no matter what color your fabric is. I'm mostly using them to mark hand-quilting pieces and tried marking a fabric that had small areas of many colors; I could mostly see the line well enough where the chalk matched the fabric, and just remarked the line with a second color if the line wasn't obvious. The chalk adheres well enough so it stays on during my hand-quilting, and rubs off when I want to erase it. Any slight remaining marks disappear with washing or more rubbing.I'm delighted with these tailor's chalks and plan to order more when these are used up.

Tailors chalk is a consumable commodity. If you are into sewing, no matter what you might be working on, you are using chalk. And if you are not using chalk, you should be. Once you do you'll understand why. Toss out the pencils and markers, chalk is the way to go. When you do start using chalk, eventually you will end up using chalk right down to the nub, and at that point it's to late. Don't run out, keep a back up pack in your sewing kit. When you need to get more. you need to get these. These are of a perfect size, not too large, not too small. They fit just right in my hand. They are sold in a four pack of different colors red, white , blue and yellow, and that helps with contrast when used on different colors of fabric. Easily removed with washing the item or wiped lightly with alcohol, or any of the many methods available. They came well protected in their shockproof package. I had none broken! They are fragile so use then cautiously if you drop them they will break. This is a necessity for any and all that sew, whether you are a novice or a pro. You will get a lot of use out of the four pieces, making this a great value for the money.

My grandmother was an amazing tailoress. I regret never having learned to sew from her when I was young. When she was in her 80's and her eyesight played tricks on her, I would help her with measurements, removing stitches etc. She left me all of her sewing supplies when she passed on. That was over 20 years ago. Since then, I have become pretty adept at sewing clothing myself. I still had pieces of the Tailor's chalk SHE used all those years ago, but they were dwindling and my hands are getting arthritic so I was having trouble hanging onto the small nubs.I tried the chalk pencils they have now, but I found the colors weren't waxy enough and I had to press pretty hard. It wasn't helpful when making marks on a living model or material that has a lot of give. I missed true tailor's chalk and how smoothly it goes on without needing a lot of pressure.THIS ITEM IS AMAZING!!!! The pieces are large and easy to hold onto. The size also helps when you put your chalk down and need to find it. The chalk has the right amount of waxiness to go on smoothly and it does not just brush off. It stays so I can still see it when it's time to cut or stitch. Listen, if you sew...you need to buy these and the price can't be beat!
