Way better than the stock one in the Xmaxx. Should’ve came factory in it. Has taken a beating quite a few times and it still going strong!

My xmaxx steers much more responsive and comes with a heavier servo spring as well.Install was pretty straight forward. Im sure there's better on the market but I am aware traxxas backs there parts really well so.i figured traxxas truck traxxas upgrades when feasible. I paired this with a aluminum servo horn and steering arm, which all together really woke up the response of the steering system so far 5 hard 30-45min bashes and it's still.as good as the day installed.

Ok truthfully idk how much better it really is than stock servo. I did it because it’s the first thing I do is replace stock Servos on all my rc rtr the x Maxx is really great rc right out of the box. If you want to upgrade to a servo that the x maxx would have came with in the first place then yes I recommend this servo but u can always wait till yours breaks. Enjoy yourself and remember don’t spend a ton of money right away on the x maxx use it first because you probably don’t need much 👍🏻

UPDATE 07/15/2020: I purchased this servo back on February 2020 and it died on 7/13/2020. The issue i have noticed is that it gets extremely hot when it is in use. To the point that it melts the plastic linkage ends that go between the servo and steering arm for from steering linkage. It gets hot and then elongates the eyelets in the Linkages. I mean this literally gets hot to the point you can touch it not even for a second. Giving it one more shot before i throw in the towel on Traxxas servos... So Far.. hundred bucks down the drain.. I personally (if i were you) would look at a non traxxas servo that is beefy or you may also be spending hundreds of dollars a year run replacing them. Loved it while it lasted (about 5 months.._)To the gentleman that said it wouldn't turn to the left. Mine did the exact same thing before it died, except mine wouldn't turn to the right (it would only go left until it hit the stops)..Anyhow honest review.. Love the Traxxas vehicles, but hate the unreliable heavy duty servo..This is a beefy servo. If you have the plastic OR metal parts for the steering unit you will notice that it is very difficult to turn the servo when the RC is off. It is almost hard enough to where it would cause the spring to engage for the break arm. So just wanted to point that out. IT IS RESPONSIVE AND QUICK. definitely will make a difference when you need the quick and rigid steering. over all i love it. (But where it is at is hard to get a picture of it, but i can share what i replaced.)All in All i love it and would definitely recommend this as a servo replaced meant for the 2085. the 2085X is really what should come in the truck to begin with..If you are getting and X-MAxx (Which i would so recommend) then replace the Servo from day one, then get the metal gears for the old one and keep it as a backup (after you install the 2085x). Which is what i did. great Servo!

Received this servo yesterday. Works as it should but it was shipped recklessly, no padding or anything to protect it and the original Traxxas packaging was a bit damaged. It’s $100 piece so it should be treated as such. If it fails too quickly, I’ll be returning it because this should last a very long time.

So much better than the stock servo, upgrade asap. super easy to install, no brackets needed since its basically a beefed up version of what comes out of the box. If you're expecting a faster, speedy servo look else where since this one is made for torque. That said I'm very happy with it in until I have to absolutely but for now its handling the abuse I give my Xmaxx and I can't complain.

The servo is definitely more powerful and reliable with internal metal gears. I just can’t give it 5 stars for a couple of reasons. First in my opinion this should be included on a stock Xmaxx. Biggest baddest RC truck you can get isn’t even finished. Second is the price. $100 is just to much for this. It’s a solid servo but $100 just seems high. Last thing I’ll say is that it’s not easy to install. Yes every YouTube video and Jack and Mary on the internet will say oh it’s easy but I found it to be a pain. I stripped the servo saver screw because there is a particular way you have to align it that wasn’t in the Traxxas guide and had to wait on additional parts. It’s doable and maybe difficult isn’t the word I just found it to be more of a pain than any of my other RC upgrades.

IMHO, it’s a must have upgrade for your XMaxx. First of all it has a metal gears, second it’s absolutely waterproof (3 ft dive proved it) and third it gives you a lot, I mean A LOT of steering power and precision. I did want to say that the stock servo is a crap, it is good to start with, but when you are moving on a next lever you need this servo. Installation is very simple and straightforward (just follow the official YouTube guide for that). My only advice is to completely unscrew the metal part of the servo link and add some blue loctite to the threads as it gives you a much more strength. Don’t use the plastic link from your stock servo as it will start to bend due to the very high torque. And the last one thing - the sound is much fore aggressive, kinda angry bee.
