The muffler and Y pipe that come with this kit is great. I have not had a chance to install dual tail pipes so exhaust is dumped right after muffler with some turn down tips just so exhaust is not being blown all over diff and brake lines. But as is this muffler has given my 5.7 tundra some good torque gains. I can only imagine how much better it will be once I add tail pipes and add some length to exhaust for scavenging effect. being the dual exhaust goes into a Y pipe/ collector and then into muffler/single inlet which has dual exit so basically it has 2 Y pipes. This muffler/setup makes a killer thump at idle and gets a loud deep rumble from 1000-3000 RPM and after that it actually gets quite. It is stated in description that this is not a complete DIY kit. And this is true. If you want it done right you will need to do a little welding for some new exhaust hangers and a few stitches on sleeves to prevent exhaust from moving. But a small 100 amp Mig welder will do perfectly fine. One tip is if you have a crew cab/short bed Tundra the mid pipe will need to be shorter. This is the straight pipe coming from dual/Y pipe to muffler. if you do not do this then spare tire under bed will be in the way of driver side tail pipe.

Not what I had expected! Flowmater makes great mufflers. I have no problem with the actual Flowmaster muffler. My gripe is that the rest of parts are not vehicle specific. I had to do a lot of cutting and grinding of the pipes, in order to get a decent fit. I wanted the dual tailpipes going straight out the back of the truck. The middle pipe that attaches to the mid/Y-pipe is very long. I believe that since they offered the kit specifically for the Toyota Tundra Crewmax, they should make the pipes all pre-cut and made for the Tundra Crewmax. No one wants to buy a so-called exhaust kit that they have to modify completely for it to work. If that is the case, one can buy all the needed parts for an exhaust kit separately and then fit them together so that they can work as a complete exhaust system. In addition, to including horrible, none fitting exhaust pipe hangers, you have to also drill holes in your chassis for them to mount and hold the pipes properly. That is ridiculous! Also, they do not include enough of the pipe hangers for the tailpipes to hang properly. If you’re not mechanically inclined, don’t buy this kit. It is very difficult to install for someone with mechanical skills, doing so at home without a vehicle lift, welding tools and skills, and metal cutting tools. The price of this system is good. So, if you want to buy a cheaper kit and install it yourself, and you are an expert at doing all the cutting, welding, drilling, and more, then go for it.BTW, the three stars are only for the Flowmaster muffler!
