Working well so far for my 2015 Subaru forester trunk door. I gave it 4 stars because it did have some hardware missing. I’m glad I read the other reviews and saved the screws from the original pieces. Overall quick and easy to install. Hopefully there will be no updates and these last a long time.

These hold the tailgate so much better than ones from Subaru.I recently purchased a 2017 Subaru Forester and realized my rear hatch couldn’t hold itself open. The mechanic tried three different sets he ordered directly from Subaru. It barely held itself most times and others simply didn’t. He said there’s nothing else he could do, so I looked on Amazon and tried these myself. They hold the hatch solid, are very easy to install

Usually, I would not give a review on something without thoroughly testing it, but... When I told my mechanic I bought after market tailgate struts for my daughters "New" 2015 Subaru Forester, he said flat out "they won't work. You need to by OEM and its gonna cost you like $140 each," He used to work for Subaru so he KNOWs Subaru's so I was disappointed. I responded unenthusiastically "I already bought them might as well try them." Today I called him to ask him how the inspection was going on the car and he offered to install the struts. He was amazed at the quality and said he'd never seen such quality on after-market struts. They fit perfect and are working perfectly!

I almost return this because after they were installed, they would not hold the hatchback open when fully lifted, it would slam down once you let it go. Turns out we installed them upside down on the body side, with the hinge at the top. We switched them so the hinge was on the bottom and then the worked properly. Obvious to some, but took me a while. Also be aware the mounting instruction are wrong both on the item page and on the instruction card sent with the lifts. They are for a different item.
