After watching some YouTube videos on how to fix my ceiling fan it became obvious there are replacement switches if your chain breaks off. It was obvious this would do the trick so I bought it and did like the guy on YouTube did. Now my ceiling fan works LOL

Had no problem replacing the old switch with the new switch. But pay attention to the wire insertion point designations so you install the correct wires to the right points.

This replacement switch, actually you get two for this price, worked PERFECTLY. Choosing the correct ceiling fan pull-chain switch is a bit complicated. There are websites for help deciding what switch you need by using the wiring order of the old switch. The connections for this switch are L-3-1-2 going counterclockwise. For this switch, L connects to 1 on high speed, L connects to 2 AND 3 for medium, and L connects to 3 for low. Ceiling fans use capacitors to change speeds, so how your fan is wired and how the pull chain switch works is critical for the fan to work. If your fan quits operating correctly, the problem is likely in either the switch OR the capacitor bank. With the power off, I suggest documenting and then disconnecting the wires from the switch. With the wires disconnected, you can use a volt-ohm meter to check the capacitance of the capacitors. If one or more of the capacitors in the capacitor housing is bad, replace the capacitor. If the capacitors check out OK, then your problem is probably the switch. Changing the switch only takes 5 minutes. But figuring out that the problem is the switch and then choosing and ordering the correct switch takes us laymen an hour or more and some expertise. To insert the wires into this new switch, the wires go in the large slot; the small hole is for inserting a tiny nail or similar to release the wire once inserted. Good luck!

These switches are a perfect fit for my Hampton bay ceiling fan, I was able to bring two back to life after the original switches failed which saved me hundreds of dollars I would have spent to replace them.

My rental has exhaust fans that turn on as the light is turned on. There is no separate switch for the fan. It is easier for me to place this chain switch to turn on the fan as needed. A small hole into the exhaust cover to place the switch and to connect into one of the wires is a simple task. Great switches for a great price.
