These boat trailer bunks are not smooth HDPE. The description says smooth. I feel the wrong type of HDPE was used and they are selling these cheaper to get rid of the mistakes. They have a texture. I chose to run them through a planer and remove the texture. The texture resembles what they call boatboard used to make some boat deck hatches.

I'm getting ready to replace the bunk boards on my trailer, and saw these slide-pads as an alternative to the carpet, so I ordered them instead of carpet. The advantage of these strips are that they have less friction than carpet (making launch of the boat easier).I laid them out on my existing bunk boards (each are 8ft long), so when I install 2 of these on each board I'll be fully covered. The strips themselves are adequately thick, and the screw holes are recessed so that the screw heads do not contact the hull of your boat, making for a very easy/simple installation.

These are a nice set of bunk glides featuring a low coefficient of friction. I really liked the pre drilled countersunk holes for ease of installation. I actually installed these on my wooden utility trailer to provide a nice slippery surface for a variety of items. I was able to easily slide 4x8 sheets of plywood easily without catching. So smooth. These are ultra tough and a great thickness of 1/2 inch. You can easily slide heavy equipment or motors on these rails. HDPE is a very strong and resilient material which should last many many years of heavy abuse. As far as a textured surface, I didnt really notice anything that stood out. Even with a 'textured' surface, you would actually get better sliding performance due to less surface area contact. Great product!
