Was able to use this device to connect the Internet from my home to my Casita to my pool. Everything connected so easily and the Internet works fantastic. Would recommend this product to anybody.

The AP6 Pro had all the makings of a great access point. Wi-Fi 6 performance was strong, the form factor is sleek, and it being within Alta Labs' ecosystem seemed promising. Unfortunately, all that promise ended with a sudden and unceremonious death - courtesy of a POE port on an Alta Labs Route10 that decided to kill the port during a storm. What’s worse than hardware failure? Being completely ignored afterward.Despite reaching out to Alta Labs support multiple times, there has been little effort to resolve the issue. No troubleshooting beyond a generic power reset, no replacement discussion, and absolutely no accountability. “Matt” from support has all but vanished. There’s no dedicated end-user support, and no help outside of narrow business hours — a serious flaw for any networking gear, especially one positioned as reliable and pro-grade.The AP6 Pro might be solid while it works, but be warned: once it's down, it's staying down — and you’ll be lucky if anyone at Alta Labs even acknowledges your ticket.

Sketchy advertising! This access point is a WiFi 6 access point, WiFI 6 cannot support QAM4096, only QAM1024 so you are basically paying for hardware you can't really use. This thing runs very hot!

These do require decent technical skills to set up, but if you have those these are a slam dunk to set up. End result is Wi-Fi that never goes down and is nice and strong. I compared this to Ruckus, InstantOn, and Ubiquiti. It outperformed all but the Ruckus (which is in a very different price class, and they nearly tied), and the controller is much more modern than the InstantOn controller without any of the unnecessary features of the Unifi console. It has what it needs currently and that’s it. Some cool things include multi password SSIDs. Worth the cost to me even now and any stability concerns that were an issue earlier this year in other reviews have disappeared as firmware improves constantly.

An unfortunate revision:Well, the unit failed about six months in. When I contacted Alta, I found out that the seller is not an official vendor, and is instead most likely purchasing and reselling it. Alta does RMAs through their vendors, so I'm out of luck, having contacted this seller and received no response. It's too bad; when the unit was working it did a fine job (see my original review below), but I can't recommend either this AP or Alta or the seller anymore. I'm definitely disappointed in Alta, as they freely admit it failed, but don't seem to take responsibility for replacing it. At least not yet. If you make it, you should be willing to replace it.Original review:NOTE: I'm an old, cranky IT professional. I've never been really happy with consumer wireless routers; the last one we had was a Linksys WiFi 6E unit, and it was a pain. Even after I installed a Palo Alto firewall at the house and turned it into just a WAP, it was flaky and annoying.I was initially looking for a dedicated 6E WAP (why get slower?) but could not find one with the features we wanted. Then I stumbled across Alta. I did some research over a couple of days, and decided to give this unit a try, given the good reviews and the fact that they are in Utah. I don't know why, but I get a bit antsy when looking at some of the less costly units from overseas. Not only for security reasons, but software quality and support.Setup had a few hitches until I got over some less-than-clear areas of the UI. I plan on sending Alta my notes, not because I think I'm a great UX person, but if I, with a goodly number of years (and beers!) under my belt, had issues, others might as well.Once set up, it's performing flawlessly. It's actually outperforming the Linksys router, even though it's only WiFi 6, and that's even with using 6E devices. At the furthest point in our house, I'm seeing almost 100Mbps more than I did before. Then there's the stuff that makes me all happy, like VLAN support, the ability to segment traffic on the same SSID using different passwords (unfortunately not available if you, like me, use WPA3). The monitoring features are also top-notch, and I've already identified a few devices that I'm going to dive into further. (I'm looking at you, XFINITY streaming box!)If we didn't already have Meraki WAPs at work, I'd seriously consider these. They are certainly capable enough, and I do like the different "colors" to assign SSIDs quickly. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase, and I look forward to sampling some of their other products down the line, both personally and professionally.

I came across these from a YouTube review and thought they looked very promising, they are designed by some former Ubiquity engineers. They are also fairly priced. So I had to purchase one to try it out. They also have switches and plans to make a router of some type.Setup was a breeze, you plug it in and it literally shows in the controller and adopts in seconds. No need to remote into some IP and manually adopt or play with any QR codes. It just finds it and adopts. It's managed by their cloud (I know some people get grossed out by cloud managed routers) they claim they are working on local management and they also have apps for Android and IOS. So far the management took has been pretty solid.Since I've got it a few days ago I've already got two updates for the APSpeeds have been good around 600-800Mbps the screenshot above is from another room through some walls too.I had some issues with some IOT devices not working with it but damn their support was fast and helped me get it fixed.

I purchased this to replace an old Aruba Instant On AP 11. The AP 11 was second gen WiFi 5, so not exactly like lightening. The setup was pretty painless. I created an account in the Altra cloud app, plugged it into my POE switch, it booted up and within about 3 minutes, it showed up in the portal, I created the SSIDs, changed the 5GHZ to 180 MHZ so I get maximum speed out of it and it was off and running. My boss didn't even have time to miss me, it was that quick! :) The AP seems to be good quality and works flawlessly so far. It did have a firmware update as soon as it was registered in the portal, that went off without a hitch, very fast.
