I ordered this mostly for the “shredding" wordplay and as a fun decoration. Since the 2-inch-wide grater is smaller than expected, it's not well suited to its actual purpose rather than decoration. The kids were amused at how ineffective it is for shredding potatoes or slicing cheese with the reverse side, but it's able to shred cheese if one's not in a hurry. It's better to just use a large metal shredder without a plastic frame around it and spray it with cooking oil to prevent cheese from sticking to it. Use the existing hole on this one to hang it up as a decoration and in case of “emergency”, perhaps when needing something shredded before a better shredder is out of the dishwasher.

I play electric guitar, and I also love cooking so it wasn't an option to NOT order this grater.Besides the very cool electric guitar design, the best thing about this grater is the 3-in-1 design. I was able to grate cheese, chocolate, and nutmeg. That being said, it's small. For the cheddar, I needed to turn the cheese so the narrowest edge of the block made contact with the grater. The lower portion, for hard cheese, is pretty small and I'd probably just use the larger, upper section even for parmesan, just to save time. That lower portion worked very well for grating nutmeg, and the size was no problem for this kind of job.The handle of the grater is kind of flexible. I found myself holding it at the lowest end of the handle so the grater offered a firmer resistance. Also, the back of the grater does not look the same as the front, so it comes off a little cheap. I'll include a picture so you can see.I took two stars off for these practicality and build issues.My plan is to glue a magnet to the back of the handle so I can display this grater on the fridge or microwave and enjoy it's design every day, rather than it being hidden away in a drawer. Then it's also easily in reach for some jobs.
