Purchased this for a 2004 Ram 2500, 5.7L Hemi ST. OE steering shaft was a two piece unit and the u-joint on the lower shaft was badly worn. Due to production change in OE model, would have to purchase two new parts to replace lower shaft. Purchased this instead. Very pleased. Saved money over buying replacement OE parts, and this steering shaft is very sturdy, reasonably easy to install and restored good handling to my truck.

2006 ram 2500 5.9Steering shaft seems to be decently built. Both shafts are telescopic. Fully extended, the borgeson is actually a bit longer. The gear box side is not keyed so it solved my issue with the 6 bolt upgraded steering gear. Only issues are; The dust boot does not cover much of the telescoping length and the back half that goes through the firewall, is not perfectly round so the oe pass through cover now has small gaps on each side.As stated in other reviews, would also be nice if the u joints were greasable.

This shaft is generally very very nice quality. My problem with it is multiple connection points are held together by just a tiny set screw. I don't like the steering of my 7000 lb truck relying on a tiny set screw. I was able to file some notches to aid in this and provide a "catch" for the set screws, but at the end of the week driving this thing I just wasn't comfortable. I put the oem shaft back on with the aluminum spacers that you can find online to fix the rubber joint slop issue. Borgeson never responded to my email about a return or partial refund, etc. (due to the fact I modified it). They could have at lest responded...

While I did everything to the steering in my power wagon, so it's hard to say if this was a cure all. I do know this is what got rid of the clunking feeling I would get in my steering wheel and foot pedal. This and the borgeson gear box paired up perfectly. It's a relatively simple job to do. Make sure you tie the steering wheel up so it doesn't move. I think the hardest part of the whole process was reinstalling the rubber boot at the firewall

My stock unit actually seemed to be in good shape and I even pressed in spacers to lock out the vibration damper bushing. Not even close to the same as this unit. Installs easy with the hardest part getting the gasket out. If your gear box is painted, it may be a pain getting the splined end on the first time as I learned. Either fool with it or bush the paint off. It took a few minutes of messing with it to get mine on and once I did it went on and off easily after that.Worst part was Amazon's shipping, 5 business days instead of the 2 guaranteed due to Amazon losing the package and such.

I have under 90K. For the last several months I began paying attention to how much slop and over correcting I was doing just to stay within the white lines. It was a LOT of work.I had the 951 installed this morning by Mark L. at Hurricane Auto Repair in Southern Utah. Excellent install. Fast and accurate. The steering is now tight, firm, precise. It's MUCH easier to steer. More like a Mercedes then an 8k pound diesel. ZERO slop/wandering/play.Thank you Borgeson. Thank you Mark.I bought mine for $214 total. From Borgeson via Amazon. Shipping was lightening FAST and included via Prime.

Perfect fit for my 04 Ram 2500. This is a far superior product than what you would receive from the dealer and over $100 cheaper. A few things to make note of, you will need to be able to cut the old shaft in half to get the firewall grommet/bearing off of it to install on the new unit. You will also need to file a flat onto the steering box input shaft to make a spot to tighten the locking bolt down, this is easily done but important to note to make sure you have all of the appropriate tools to get the job done. Also the guy who says he's pissed because his shaft was too short clearly has no business performing this repair, the shaft is telescoping to allow it to collapse in a collision and is shipped in its fully collapsed position, you simply have to pull the shaft from each end to extend it when installing it into the truck.
