I purchased another "reputable" brand of pastry brush 1 year prior to purchasing this one as the glue retaining the bristles had let go allowing all of the bristles to fall out. I do not regret my decision to buy this French-made tool. quality tools are worth investing in, this is no exception!Would Highly recommend

Not sure about the “cheap brush” review- I only use Matfer pastry brushes, for many years, and have never had one fall apart. Makes me wonder how this individual is treating their brushes. Anyway, this one is perfect for chocolate work- can brush onto a guitar sheet for thin pieces of different types chocolates, displayed in a glass vessel, etc. Also great for brushing the inside of a large polycarbonate mold like this Easter egg......

Perfect size brush for most pastry. I prefer a silicone pastry brush, but this one is best for delicate dough like, croissant.

the third time I went to use it (about 2-3 weeks) the plastic cover (brown) was completely cracked along both sides. One side fell off but the other is holding on for dear life. Doesn't affect use but maybe quality of materials. No, I didn't put it in the dishwasher. Otherwise, works fine.Update: (7/16) The other side finally fell and the bristles came out.

Well, I would like to say that this is the best pastry brush that I have ever had but sadly I only owned it for two weeks before it fell apart. Yes, I was using the brush in a professional Pastry kitchen but that's what these are made for. The red plastic part that secures the bristles to the handle developed small cracks within the first week and then completely fell apart by the second week. Matfer usually makes the best Pastry equipment that you can find so I'm not sure why this happened. I store all of my brushes tucked away in a special pouch in my knife case. I also ordered their natural bristle brushes and have had no problem with them. The plastic housing is a different color on the natural bristle brushes, maybe a different type of plastic. Anyway, I would not order these again at any price.

I love the quality, colors and everything about this brush. It's easy to use and it holds the liquid or egg wash perfectly so I don't have to dip it again and again. Would definitely buy it again.
