These were easy to install on our 2008 Avalon and the struts lift the hood so well. I might update in a few years as to the longevity, but at time of install, they are a perfect fit and function properly.

I am glad I gave these a try. For the first time I opened an Amazon package and found the product had already be opened inside. I was worried I got a defective product by mistake. I decided to install them anyways and found I could not close my hood. I removed them, shook my fists to the sky at Amazon Prime for a minute, then tried something. These supports are very study out of the box. So I decided to “prime” them. I placed protection on the ground, stood them upright and gently pressed down. It worked for both of them. These supports come with a lot of pressure in them. I like that knowing they will keep my hood open as I’m not ready to have my head caved in. I’m hoping to get a spot next to Jeff Bezos to space one day. Not likely. Sorry, I’m rambling. I bet the last purchaser thought the product was defective and returned them. The manufacturer clearly disagreed and reboxed them. If I wasn’t handy, I probably would have returned them as well by mistake. My job forces me to be a problem solver. Hopefully the review helps you.
