This wooden stand is my kitchen hero—holds heavy cookbooks at the perfect 15° angle (no page flipping!), and the redwood finish matches my decor. Also great for sheet music and tablets. Slight overhang with extra-wide books, but 10/10 for daily use. Stylish & sturdy.Ideal angle for hands-free reading , Holds thick books/tablets securely.

Brilliant yet simple design, easy to assemble with just 2 pieces, the finish looks like the shiny black of a grand piano. The pieces slip easily together, and they stay together as if one solid piece of wood. If you later want to disassemble the stand, the pieces can be easily separated making storage or moving them a breeze.Once assembled, the angle is ideal, I tried several books of varying size and thickness, and all of them stayed opened and on the page I wanted. This would be perfect for a cookbook, when you are using a recipe and need the book to stay open on a specific page. If holding a heavy book open is too challenging, why not let the stand hold it for you?I've always loved the way a coffee table book looks when opened on a display stand. I've admired them in design magazines and in library's and museums, but I've never considered buying one as they always seemed like a luxury item for fancy people living in a fancy house. It gave me a thrill when I first put a book on the stand, I found the perfect book and flipped through the pages until I found just the right page...and then I took a step back, then walked all around the table, admiring how beautiful and transformative the book looks when open on the stand. I think a book looks best when open. Before I got the stand, I had the same book siting on the tv table with a bunch of other books. And it didn't look special or interesting, I hadn't opened it in years, and neither had anyone else. I dusted it and that was about all the attention it got.But now, open and on a display stand, the book came to life, and I was reminded of why I bought the book in the first place. When we have guests over, they gravitate towards the book and look through the pages. Whatever book is on the stand, whatever page it is turned to, it becomes a center of attention, a diversion to look at while talking or having a drink, everyone we've had over since getting the stand, has looked at the pages of the book, it really has a magnetic power. The stand has transformed my living room in a way that no other decor item has, and for very little effort and expense. It is large enough to securely display a large coffee table book. I put my biggest book on the stand, and it looked proportional. There is no chance of the stand shifting or coming apart on its own.For the money, It's the best decor addition I've ever made. And what a great gift! On it's own or paired with a coffee table book or cookbook, it makes an impactful present.

Easy to slip together, easy to slip apart. At home I have my paper OED on one for reference.I slip the pieces apart and carry it to the library where I slip them together to read comfortably.

Updating my previous one-star review, below: As I looked at the break, and thought of the hassle of sending the thing back, etc., and hoping another would arrive intact--I decided it was worth a try to fix it myself. It was such a clean break, I got out some Gorilla Glue, followed instructions, and... well, it's standing right up now.So--three stars for a pretty design, but only three, because it really seems it shouldn't have broken that easily. Unless mine was just a fluke. If this is just the right look you want, I'd give it a try if you can get it at a decent price. Good luck!ORIGINAL REVIEW:I am sorry to report that the product arrived broken! There was nothing wrong that I could see with the box at all, but one of the supports was simply broken completely through. See the photo. I would like to try for a replacement, but this is my second try at obtaining this item. The first time, the vendor sent the wrong item entirely. It’s unfortunate, because it’s a really nice design and I’d really like to have this! We’ll see what happens.

This is actually stupidly useful. Honestly I loved it when I first saw it online. It arrived in 2 pieces with no directions and took a while to figure out how to assemble; it's mostly the angle you slide the pieces in at that matters (go for a wide obtuse angle, not a 90º). The wood is actually rather cheap for $40 however; that is an insane price so I bumped it down a star. I was very disappointed when I first opened it for the price point. But honestly after I assembled it, it was the perfect size; smaller than I imagined (which I thought might be disappointing at first) but that turned out to be better because I can place it on small fold-out TV tables.I was so disappointed until I assembled it and then I realized everyone should have one. But for $40 these should be solid wood, not composite hollow laminate made to look real. Absolutely not. Regardless, I've had a giant book I purchased recently laying around and taking up space. It is now opened to where I left off, on its new pedestal. If you can get this on sale and love to read large books—do it. This feels so professional and the way it elevates the book slightly and tilts it while saving your page is like having a second bookmark, and an invitation to enter back "into your fantasy world" without the chore of dragging the heavy book out and opening it back up while trying to situation it in your hands every time you decide to read a page, or remember a paragraph from it.
