It is lovely wood, and simple clean design…..but your yarn sticks out on top, you cants use the lid with the yarn ball in the base, and therefore you lose control of the unwinding process as the yarn is taller than it is wide and tends to be wobbly when spinning and jumps out of the notch. If you are using a very small flat ball which I can’t picture any type of yarn in this category, it might work. I kept it because it’s decorative, but not useful.

This yarn bowl is beautiful! The fact that it has a lid is an extra bonus. I gifted this to my doctor who is also a knitter and she was over the moon!

This is a really stunning knitting bowl. I ordered it as a gift for a friend and ended up ordering a second one for myself, it was so breathtaking. I'm not too sure about the lid, unless you have a very small quantity of yarn there's no way to keep that in place, but overall this is just a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, and a gift that any knitter would be thrilled to receive.

Preface: I'm new to crochet so don't know the technical terms.Pluses: Attractive appearance, works well with yarn balls w/ top on or off, great for catching the little trim pieces of yarn when using a skein, great for holding scissors, needles, extra hooks when using a skein that I couldn't find the center pull stringMinus: The curly Q opening is a little rough but hasn't hurt my yarn, doesn't work with Skein if you can't find the string in the middle of the skein
