I've never been disappointed in the quality of Arches paper. This company has been getting it right for 500 years and I hope they continue to do so. I've worked with the cold, hot, and rough press versions, and all hold up well to light scrubbing, heavy washes, and are also conducive to my more illustrative fine brushwork watercolor style.

Yes, their paper is more expensive, but it’s well made, and the quality is reliable. I’ve tried other brands, and always end up going back to Arches.

I am a devoted Arches user but this is only the second time I have purchased rough. I wasn’t using it because I thought it was too rough for me. However, I have recently completed several painting on this paper and I discovered it is very a very good surface for landscapes and most any other style except botanical. Rough absorbs more water which extends working time and that is very helpful. It is only slightly different from cold press.

I didn't expect to like this paper as much as I do. I always though I liked smooth paper more but over time I've been leaning more towards textured ones and this is pretty textured. It absorbs nicely and stays damp for a decent amount while working but if left alone drys reasonably fast too. It's a bit on the pricey side for the amount of sheets but the quality is worth it in my opinion. Plus I work kinda small so I cut the sheets in half or smaller. Haven't had it too long to paint much on it but can't wait. Also if you have paints that granulate they'll look nice on this paper

I have been using Arches for about 6 months after my art teacher insisted I left the cheaper papers behind me. I thought it was a teacher's speech but she was so right. I started with arches cold press and immediately my work improved. I love texture so the hot press did nothing for me and I was happy with the cold press until one day I decided to try the rough....and I L-O-V-E it. I still go back to cold press sometimes (I have about 4or 5 books in my reaerve) but more and more I find myself painting in the rough.

Arches is simply the best of the best and the biggest. Its hard to go wrong with any selection of arches and look at any watercolor forum, demonstration, or decent quality of work and well over 50% are using some form of arches. Its also really nice that they are consistently discounted by a substantial amount. The savings make the best paper almost as cheap as a common academic grade. Product was delivered by date promised, however, the third parties reselling the paper need to hop on the AMAZON train in regards to shipping. Amazon prime has me spoiled and waiting an extra 3-7 days feels like ages. But the price on amazon will be half that found at any local retailer and will be the cheapest online.Arches is the no brainer if you don't know what to pick but want something thats top quality, the absolute best value, and will last a lifetime. And for many. they probably didn't read this because they knew where to go to get the best deal on the good stuff.
