Wonderful little sketchbooks for watercolor. Great size. It's essential these have a band to keep it closed and these do. Paper quality is good, heavy, paper for watercolor.

Paper signatures sandwiched between a front and back cardboard with an elastic band not attached. The paper was good.

Anyone who paints knows that finding the perfect watercolor journal is a journey. For me, this is the perfect art journal. I love how the first page is glued to the cover so you don’t waste a page and it doesn’t lay odd. I love that it feels thick and lovely. I love that the paper doesn’t come off when you pull washing tape off of it. It doesn’t bow when I layer a lot of water on it. I have not had it long however I’m about a quarter of the way through one of the books and right now it is pure joy.

I like the sketchbook; the paper handles water well. However, the blue square version of this sketchbook does not have a removable elastic band; it has an attached band like many other sketchbooks. All sizes and colors say that they have a removable band, but the photos of the larger size show an attached band. I ordered the brown square, and it has the removeable band I was looking for. I will probably return the blue square version, but I'm waiting to see how the paper responds to watercolor.
