I had some short lengths of paracord and made them shorter with the cutting tool. Burning at about 3/4 throttle, the cutting tool severed and sealed on each cut. Quickly! I used a small stick as a cutting mat and the burn marks show in the photos.I put the solder tip on and attempted some solder work on projects. I removed two joints with a solder sucker using the Dremel tool. I had to turn the throttle down to lowest setting. Working on small circuit boards with the solder tip is easy to get hot fingers but I did get two wires soldered into a board. The torch doesn't always light with the first click but it only takes seconds to see it start to glow orange when it is lit.The tiny tips and tools are friction-fit in the storage box and hold their place very well. My fingers struggle to remove them.Controlling the temperature is critical to each operation.

The Dremel brand has always been a hit or miss for me, but that could be because I tend to use them in more of a professional capacity than their intended purpose. This torch is the exception. I ordered this to replace my older no name brand that needs to be refilled after only a few uses. I primarily use it for heat shrink tubing and occasionally as a hot knife. So far, I have only needed to refill the Dremel one time. The igniter requires a few attempts on a cold start, but that is pretty typical for tools such as this and isn't a big deal. The safety mechanism is a bit annoying, but can be removed with relative ease (the pin can be pushed out allowing the spring and safety mechanism to be removed, or you can simply cut off the lower part of it and leave the remaining intact). The overall quality is great and very durable. The only downside that I can see is that it does not come with a storage case to prevent losing the accessories. All in all, this guy has found a permanent home on my workbench and I wouldn't hesitate to order another one!

I would advise agents using this for any kinds of soldering work it gets way to hot for use on any PCB boards, I think the only real world uses I can see for this is maybe sweating the occasional pipe here or there (because who doesn't have the occasional pipe that needs sweated) or maybe some wood working like burning or whatnot, lastly would be shrinking shrink tube it's an absolute beast at this but how often do you shrink shrink tube? personally I do it whenever I get a chance but that's just me.

This diracted butane torch tool has been a useful addition to my workshop. I had previously used larger and less focused propane torch extensions for finer metal work, but one of the challenges has been directing the heat to exactly where i want it and to avoid where I don't want it. This tool helps by providing a very easy to control and directed jet of heat to where I want it. Less fuel waste, less heat waste, and I can heat what I need to faster and with less collateral issues due to heating other areas of the metal. Definitely a superior way to heat metal for fine detail artwork.

This unit works as advertised, but it's still disappointing. In particular:1) It doesn't come with any sort of case beyond the box and heat-formed-plastic liner. This isn't really good enough for long-term use.2) The controls are VERY fiddly. I suppose I'll develop reflexes for them with time, but the locking and ignition mechanism doesn't feel at all natural, and it usually takes several tries to get the thing to ignite. (When it does ignite, the ceramic cylinder quickly comes to a bright glow, so at least it's easy to tell when you've succeeded.)3) To change tips, you need to use TWO wrenches, and the ones supplied are cheap stamped metal. Juggling them is difficult and frustrating, and when one or both inevitably get lost, I'll need to use needle-nose pliers or some sort of very thin wrench. The butane tool this is replacing didn't need any tools at all to change tips.I think this will be serviceable, but it's going to be one of those tools that I swear at every time I have to set it up or take it down. I'll be keeping an eye open for a replacement that might be less annoying.

I got this unit just to swap out my other one. Not because it doesn't work anymore, well kind of. The catalytic combustion heat only tip finally gave out on the one I've been using for so many years. And I've pretty much ruined several of the solder tips as well. So I figured I knew kit was due. I can tell you I dang sure got my money's worth out of the first one because it's something I use every single day sometimes over and over again on either soldering or heating heat shrink connectors. If I was able to get five or six years out of the first kit and it still actually works then it's 100% worth it and extremely durable especially for the price. It's worth the price just to have it for doing heat shrink connectors with the no flame catalytic combustion tip. But having the cordless soldering is a nice touch too. It's not complicated at all even the safeties on it are super simple to understand and anyone can use this. But that doesn't mean it's meant for just hobby people, I would say this is up to professional grade. And I own several of these type kits one of them is Blue point off the snap-on truck and it is intermittent when it wants to work and light. Never have an issue with this one and they look dang near the same. Why go spend $200 when you can buy this for the price they're selling it and get a better product. Dremel has yet to let me down and our own at least 20 different products from Dremel.
